Bass works well for the money, packaging caused damage

I am a musician and so is my husband. He wanted a bass to just mess around on, nothing fancy. I saw this, watched a few YouTube reviews, and couldn't pass it up for the price. I took a big risk buying this online with such mixed reviews but, it sounds pretty good! I took it out, got it tuned up, action was good, electronics worked.
My reason for the 2 stars is the packaging and damage. There was a box around the bass box and thin plastic around the instrument, which I believe caused several dents and cracks in the body of the instrument. They seem cosmetic, but as this was supposed to be one of his Christmas gifts it may be going back.

Bass Guitar came with a clip on turner. Quality was good. Action was high but can be adjusted. Low E string is kinda low on volume but mess with your EQ settings. Sounds good plugged in and acoustically.

We were surprised that this guitar was much higher quality than expected at this price point. In the $100 range, there aren't a lot of quality guitars, but this one fit our needs perfectly. We can use it for traveling without worrying about it getting damaged because its so inexpensive to replace. This has become our go-to for parks, the beach, camping, etc. Its great for anywhere you wouldn't want to take a nicer guitar but still need adequate sound quality.

Of course I knew what I was getting when I bought it. It was a great price. I will eventually do a complete new set up on it and hopefully that will make it a worth while purchase. It is playable when delivered. Just not to my satisfaction. But again. A great buy.
