X-Acto doesn't dissapoint

It's an X-acto, can't go wrong with these knives. I've been using them for years and their quality allows longevity. I've had to replace some but only because they were lost and/or stolen. The metal construction is always welcome. There are other brands out there but I've never been burnt by x-acto so I will stand by the brand.
I use these for precision cutting on multiple projects. These work great for paper, some plastics, and vinyl. I'm pretty sure I've used them for other things on the fly as well. Keep a sharp blade on your tool and it'll get the job done.

I am only using this for cutting paper and it has been fine

I have the set of the single knife plus extra blades (a separately packaged item for retail purposes; it was in the same outer envelope as the knife). The blades are just in a bit of plastic attached to a cardboard backing and once you open them, it is hard to close the package again, so when I get to the point of actually needing a second blade, I'm probably going to put them in a small plastic case for safekeeping.
I needed a craft knife for cutting paper for quilling and making paper beads. I am using this on top of a self-healing cutting mat (one of the ones sold for quilters to do rotary cutting on, but it works well enough here, too). I haven't used a craft knife in years and years so I don't have a lot of experience to compare to, but the last one I used was X-Acto and I had a good experience with it, so I went with the same brand again.
This cuts nice, clean lines in various crafty types of paper (origami paper, some shiny foil covered paper I have, etc.). That's all I really needed it to do, so I'm happy. The cap on mine fits OK and feels like it will be sturdy enough as long as you don't repeatedly drop it on a hard floor (it is a clear, rigid plastic). There could be a danger of the cap falling off if you keep the knife upside down, so I always make sure it is upright or just lying on its side. The knife is comfortable to hold (I have small hands for an adult) and works for both right- and left-handed people (I use it in my left hand). I find the blade stays in place and isn't damaged by use but then, I am only cutting paper, and usually a single sheet at a time, at that. I suspect satisfaction with cutting may depend on what you are trying to cut, and I am not taxing the abilities of this knife very much. (I am also using it flat on a table.)
In the end, I am only an occasional user of the knife. I just wanted something that would give me a better, cleaner line than scissors, and this knife does that.

Not as pictured/advertised.

The package of additional blades that came with the Z series knife are NOT the Z series blades that are advertised and shown in the picture, but the standard style blades. Not happy.
Excellent replacement for original

I bought it to replace my 15 year old knife and it's solid just like the original. I like the safety cap for when I work, but it doesn't fit on the blade when I put it in my old plastic box for the set I bought years ago. But I keep it in the generic hole for stuff and pull it out when I'm working with that blade. I don't think the bronze is better or worse, but I love the safety feature because there were times I accidentally jabbed myself when it was laying on my drafting table. So it's worth it just for that alone.
Great knife but crummy caps - easy fix.

The knifes gets 5 stars. The caps get nothing. I ordered 3 and they all fit with slop. Turn the knifes down and the caps fall off. It did on all 3. Hey X-ACTO are you listening to your customers complaints abour your caps? Bring back the old caps that stay on.
Easy fix. The part on the cap on the side that is slotted, with the dimple on the inside to grab the knurled blade cap. This is molded too straight to the body of the cap putting no pressure on the knurled blade cap. At the base of this tang where it meets the rest of the cap, heat with a lighter about 2 inches away for 7-10 seconds to warm the plastic. Then push the tang in on the end about 20 degrees off plane. Hold until plastic cools. Your cap now will never fall off until you take it off.
