This does help with ridding of bed bugs. I do suggest taking the item outside that you're trying to de-infest. There is not lock for the trigger which in turn will give your hand a mighty cramp. I love that it can also steam the walls. It's small enough that my 12 year old was able to handle it. She actually loved using it. (Which scares me when you can't get her to do anything else! She thought it was fun!) So, if you have something you need steam cleaned of something you want done with a steamer, give it to a tween and you'd be surprised with what you will actually accomplish! So, yes, this was money well spent. If I'd know my 12 year old would had done something sooner, I would have bought it much sooner.

I share my home with a small flock of parrots. Some time ago I asked my avian veterinarian what she used for cleaning cages. Her approach was much like mine. However, she mentioned that in addition to changing bedding and using a nontoxic spray cleaner several times per week, she also used a small steam cleaner once per month or so. This seemed a good idea. I searched Amazon for one and found theDBTech DB8561. It was a great find.

The cleaner is small enough to work about the cages, but it also produces a strong flow of steam. It has a number of attachments that make getting into hard to reach areas quite simple. One even has a very stiff brush surrounding the spray head, good for a two attack approach. The cord is long enough to reach around the room without having to keep moving from outlet to outlet. I bought one for my niece for the same claning task.

The cleaner is now in its second year of service. Last week I went to use it, and the longer hose would not remain tightly attached to the steamer. I should explain that many of the fittings have a twist lock feature. This is a good design as it keeps things well attached and limits the chance of steaming one's self in the process. I considered ordering a new unit as a replacement. In looking at the box for the model number, I noticed there was an email for the company. I wrote them asking if I could purchase just a replacement hose.

I got a quick response to my inquiry. It asked for the details of my Amazon order. I assumed they just wanted to confirm my purchase. Better than that, they let me know that the unit was still under warranty and that the hose would be replaced without charge.

Now we are not talking a expensive tool, and that is why I had said that I would purchase the replacement part. It was very pleasing to know that here was a company that would stand behind their product. I am happy to give the DBTech DB8561the highest rating, and why I wrote this review.

had one of these years ago and loved it. I loaned it and never got it back. My new house has loads of tile everywhere. I used it last week when my housekeeper was here and we both love it. Of course I won't loan it out. You must though, refill it rather often because it is small, but much easier on the hands that way. My biggest problem with this steamer is that it is difficult to get the top off when wanting to refill it.
It took much longer than I expected to get it off even after making sure there was no steam left. I'm sure there is a resolve to this problem, I just don't know what that is yet. Will let everyone know when I do find the answer. Other than that, this is a wonderful housekeeping and sanitizing tool. I am thrilled.

Edit: It broke after a month! The flimsy spring in the cap wouldn't work so I could not open it up to add water. The spring looks like it belongs in a pen. It's just not well made. It was great while it lasted, which was the blink of an eye.

I'd give this 10 stars if I could. I got this to replace a Shark hand held steam cleaner that died after a decade of use. This one is so much better! I'm a huge fan of steam cleaning because there are no toxic chemicals and it's not effective.

The steam is constant so cleaning takes so much less time. It melts gunk and sanitizes at the same time. It gets things clean that you didn't know we're dirty like the where your faucet meets the sink.

The unit is big enough to hold a decent amount of water but light enough so I don't get tired. I also really like the tools that come with the steamer. They fit really well and are actually useful. The cord is long enough so you don't have to constantly unplug and replug the steamer.

So, If you are on the fence because this is not a well know brand name you can feel good knowing you are supporting a family business with a quality product. I know this because of the thank you email they sent me. Highly recommend this steamer unit.

This is absolutely one of the worst products I have ever purchased from Amazon. I read the reviews so thoroughly. After experiencing this product, the only thing I can conclude is that these reviews are fake. This is a cheesy piece of crap, and does not get hot enough to do ANYTHING. I purchased this to kill bed bugs. I can literally spray it directly on my hand holding my hand an inch from the sprayer and not even feel discomfort. Either I got a defective product, or every glowing review on here is FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE. I shouldn't have expected so much from a $30 steamer! If it sounds too good to be true....
