Bathroom sink stopped up again - used plunger - sink has not stopped up gain.

5/2/18
It did everything mentioned in my initial review and still warrants 5 star rating BUT I had to throw it away today. The first time I used it to unclog my bathroom sink I noticed a lot of large 'black' pieces floating in the water. I thought it was maybe from the pipe and what was causing the blockage. Today I was using it again and again those 'black' pieces in the backup water as I pumped the plunger. So, I decided to close the drain, run some water into the sink then gently plunge the water in the sink to see what happened. Those 'black' pieces again showed up. Evidently the 'black' pieces are coming off of the rubber plunger. Cannot see where in the plunger but not a good thing to be going down the drain when I am trying to stop the plugging of the drain (why add more material to the plug). SO, I threw it away. Hated to do it since it worked so well in the first instance but do not like those 'black' pieces coming off of the product I am trying to use as a cleaning device.
Amazingly effective for a sink or shower drain - is small but creates strong blasts of air to clear clogs

I bought this little plunger after reading great reviews here after struggling with a badly clogged bathtub drain (visitor with a heavy beard decided to shave in the shower over a week while using lots of shaving foam). I tried my toilet plunger to no effect, then a couple of treatments of drain cleaners, and then a few gallons of boiling water with no real effect - only a very, very slow flow after all of this. This little thing cleared the clog in about 2 minutes, though the only challenge was closing up the overflow drain in the wall of the bathtub in order to get a good seal on the drain (solution was a plastic bag over the drain cover with lots of duct tape). Once I closed the overflow drain, I filled the tub with about 2 inches of warm water and plunged things for 20 seconds, stopped to check to see what the flow was, and then repeated. After doing this 5 or so times, I had an absolutely clear running tub. I then tried this little plunger on bathroom sinks that were slow running (and it was easy to plug the overflow drains - just put a finger in them) and they cleared well (lots of black gunk with first couple of plunges - clear once this crud was removed). Sink drains then flowed very smoothly with about a minute of effort total for each.

This a great product at a great price. I'm going to get a second one with the idea I can use one to cover the overflow drain in a tub (no duct tape and a tighter seal) and then plunge the main drain as needed. When not plunging bathtub drains, will leave it in a bathroom on another floor.

Great product - Very highly recommended.

PS The plunger is pretty small - I don't think it is intended for a toilet.
Fantastic! Really works! Go for it, as described in my comment.

I;m 70 and kept looking for the old-fashion plungers. For some reason I just didn't think this new type would work, in spite of many great reviews. Although I feel like an idiot because now that I've used it and it work so magnificently its obvious to me from the design that would exert more force than the old type. I use mine for sinks, although I think it would also work in my toilet [which doesn't have that big, sloping opening.]

Anyway, IT IS MAGICAL!!! Easy to use, even with my weak, arthritis hands. Just sucked out and/or moved any blockage totally. I 100% recommend this type of plunger. I did follow the ideas of certain comments, which I can't remember fully, -- run hot water 10 min before using and also I think after, I also did put some plain vinegar into the drain many minutes before using -- I absolutely would not have used any kind of chemical before plunging obviously but I figured vinegar diluted with hot water would be ok if there was any splash back and also I did not stick my nose directly over the sink when I did the plunging. [I think I did it 2 times.]

So, whatever your age, go for it. Except for using it in large toilet openings I pretty much guarantee it will work on "normal blockages" i.e. maybe not a large object that has gotten stuck but I don't know if any plain plunger would work for that.
Worked in Seconds and pulled out a long lost metal screw too.!! Best Purchase in a long time!!

After using a gallon of liquid Drano in two bathroom sinks with no effect, I thought I would have to disassemble the plumbing. I had very slow drainage. In one sink while I was installing a light fixture I dropped a screw in it but it had no effect so I left it alone. No big deal, later on down the road the sink was not draining well due to a buildup of shaving cream, toothpaste and hair. I used Drano and that did not help. Then I used gallons of boiling water and that did not help.
One day I was in Home Depot with my cousin and saw a little yellow plunger made for small sinks. I did not purchase it at the time but kept it in the back of my mind thinking it might work. Finally decided to look on Amazon. I did not purchase the yellow one which was available but purchased this one because of the reviews.
Thinking this was going to push the clog thru, I was not expecting it to suck the clogging material out. That is what it did and guess what, not only did a bunch of junk come out but it actually pulled that screw out too. I used this on both sinks and they are draining 100%
I think I paid more for the Drano and this actually worked.
Pretty sure I'll never need to use liquid clog remover again

My bathroom sink was starting to drain more and more slowly, until it was hardly draining at all. I've often unclogged sinks using vinegar and baking soda, but in this case they didn't help. I hate the thought of pouring Drano or any other caustic substances down the drain where they wind up in the water supply, so I did some research, learned that sink plungers exist, and decided to try one of these. I was pretty surprised at how well it worked. As others have said, and I can now attest to, you have to cover up the drainage hole at the top of the sink bowl with duct tape or something else airtight or it won't work. But if that hole is sealed up, this plunger creates an impressive amount of suction. Usually it only takes a few pumps to dislodge whatever clog has formed and the sink flows freely again. Due to the shape of my sink, I have difficulty creating a seal around the drain with the plunger, but I find that if I fill the sink partway with water I'm able to create a strong seal. Using this for 10 seconds every few weeks seems to be enough to keep my sink from clogging up. I love that it's infinitely reusable, unlike liquid clog removers. Well worth the modest price.
