4Runner Rear Hatch Locking Assembly

The part arrived on time as promised and was exactly as ordered. Very easy to replace with regular tools once rear hatch panel is removed. You can Google how to resync the electronic controls. A very easy one minute process. Unit has worked flawlessly since installed.

Install was pretty straight forward with instructions found in one of the other reviews. Perfect match for my 06 4Runner.
Tough part was re-setting the computer, I did the drivers window, sun roof and rear window up and down like instructed and the lock latched but would not un-latch. Found online that you have to cycle the door locks 3 times. Then my rear wiper and defrost didn't work, cycled the rear window again and it magically fixed itself. None of this is the products fault, easily 5 stars.

Fits perfectly. Easy to install. No problems with this item. Just make sure to reset the system by disconnecting the power at the battery and not at the control box as some have suggested. Works great!

The part is as adveriised . So far so good. Please follow the instructions posted in one of the prior reviews. You have to disconnect the battery. After installing the mechanism and the battery I suggest getting the master key to open all the locks so the computer can read the new part and the door latch will open. As trying it window by window didn't work. It takes about 45 minutes to unstall . You tube has post where a gentleman shows you how to install the latch mecanism.I saved around the price if I took it to the dealer

Latch performed well for just over one year then failed just like the original part. No sign of water infiltration or corrosion or overheating. The open/release function failed even though the close/latch function continues to work. Replacing the switch (under the latch cover) did not correct the problem, nor did extensive wiring testing reveal any problem in front of the unit or between the unit and the switch.
It should be noted that, because there is no manual rear gate release, this part is essential for opening the rear gate. Such a part should be built to last for the expected life of the vehicle. This does not meet the test, even by half.
