Decent reflector arm, cheap stand base.
drstarkJune 2, 2017
I've bought quite a few stands for lights and green sceeens lately and this is one of the cheaper stands out there. The first time I used the weighted sandbag on the end of the arm, it snapped the silver mounting stud right out of the black base and bent the black tubing. I was able to pound it back in with a hammer but the metal is now bent. Having said that, the reflector arm is a decent value for the money and I will us the arm with one of my better quality light stands and be just fine. If you buy it for the extension arm and not the stand, you'll be satisfied with the purchase for the price.
Does what it is supposed to do

This is not a heavy duty stand, but I knew that when I bought it. I don't' plan on using it often, so for me, it is fine. Directions were terrible, but I managed to figure it out. I took wrist weights and put placed them in the zippered pouch to weigh it down.
Not what I expected

I needed something for outdoors but the slightest breeze would make it fall or fly away and using weights didn't help. I also wish this would come with a bag for storage. If you want something for indoors, this might work better for that.

This is a decent Lighting Reflector holder at the right price. It is a bit flimsy and I am not sure if it would stand up to daily use and abuse, but the reflector gets the job done for occasional shoots where I need to use reflectors. The tripod seemed to be air cushioned and the locks worked okay and kept it from collapsing. The base is not high quality or super sturdy, but it is able to support the necessary weight of the arm and a reflector, so it suffices. You will definitely want to use sandbags with this guy. I chose not to attach sandbags to the arm, and placed two sandbags on the base, which should keep it from tipping over on its own, or being bumped and knocked over. The clips on the arm that hold the reflector were sturdy and held on tight enough, although you may want to be careful when using them because I could see that there is a possibility that you could puncture a lower quality reflector if you place the clips at the wrong spot. Overall this is decent equipment at a decent price, and it never hurts to have extra holders and tripods for backup purposes if necessary.
Solid, for the price!

I love this light stand for the price. Quite sturdy, easy to slide out to set up. Construction is fairly solid. However, if you have a large reflector (like 46 in.) like mine, then this reflector arm will barely hold it okay. If there's a strong wind, forget it and let someone else hold on to it. For smaller reflector, it'll work great. The sand bag that comes with the product is a extra plus. You could stuff anything heavy in there. I used to use just a cat litter bag :)
