You forget how well it works until it stops working.
RL•February 4, 2017
Bought this unit about 10 months ago and it took about 2 days to install which includes going back and forth to the hardware store too many times. Worked great for a while then noticed it working erratically. About 2 weeks ago, I found the brine tank completely empty. Thought nothing of it and simply filled it to a decent level and forced a regen cycle. Checked the salt level two days ago and found that it hadn't changed much in two weeks. To be sure I forced a regen cycle and measured liquid and salt level before and after and there was no brine draw. After much troubleshooting including checking all the flow restrictors and screen, found that the cam in the control box had popped out. I do not believe it to be a design flaw, but I am guessing that it wasn't put on right to begin with. It locks in and it would be very difficult for it to pop out. In any case, one of the two locking tabs was broken off. Popped it back in with the one working locking tabs and forced a cycle and it drew the brine. So other than that it's a great product but it might be a good idea to check (you have to remove the front cover box) the cam before installation or if you notice that your unit is not drawing brine. I hope to get another cam from the supplier just in case.
2/16/17 Update: Called the vendor (602abcwater) and they are sending a new cam (freebie). I'll at least keep the old one as a backup. Tested the water before running the unit through a cycle after fixing it, with Industrial Test Systems WaterWorks 481108, and the hardness was at the highest level. After regenerating after fixing the issue mentioned above the the strip did not change color at all so the hardness was undetectable. Upgraded my rating to a five for the great customer service and and previously mentioned this unit works great. One last thing, the way to access the filters, flow restrictors, injectors and disassemble the unit is really great once you read the instruction and figure out how to pop out the plastic retainers. Very convenient, if you're working hard to get them out you're doing it wrong.

The best softener, customer service and value one can buy

The best softener, customer service and value one can buy! The owner/rep is great to speak with and walked me through a self install on a water loop that we had the builder rough-in during construction. I opted for the 1" connections but a 1/2" is sufficient with an adapter to a 1". I wanted to use 1" shut off valve to bypass the softener just in case I needed to do maintenance but forgot to do so during installation and now I don't want to redo the plumbing because the 1" shutoff valves are very expensive.
Five Stars

Great Tasting Water when paired with an awesome filter!

Seems to do the job. Purchased this for my home and the plumber said the system I had was overkill. Paired it with a Aquasana filter and the water taste better than bottled water. I've filled it up with 3 bags of salt and it's been a month and still don't need to refill. I did run a manual flush two times just to make sure it was working. I would still purchase this over the other Fleck systems. Why not spend a little more and get the best.

Unit works great. Installation was relatively easy (if you are handy and have the tools). Water is now super soft. Very noticeable after a shower.
