Motor burned out after 8 batches in a year
Donald Clancy•July 29, 2016
On the plus side, this pump filters fairly well with one filter set changout every 3 gallons or so. On negative side it leaks wine out the frame leading to a lot of recycle. I used this pump for about a year, to process 8 six gallon batches of wine. The pump motor burned out during the 8th batch. I suppose I could look at it as an operating cost of about $20 per batch for filtration pump wear and tear plus filters. That cost seems high. I'll look for another alternative before purchasing this unit again.
Great machine!

Having read reviews on this machine before I purchased it, weren't very good emphasizing a loud machine and leaks excessively. I decided to get it anyway and it is great! Very quiet! And the 'overflow' leakage was very minimum as expected from the operations manual. Using a #2 filter, the wine is super clear and sparkles!
Excellent!!

I just bottled a beautiful strawberry melomel that is crystal clear thanks to this thing. You can even use it for racking if you bypass the filters. Make sure you watch videos on how to use this thing and you will have no problems. This was money well spent.
Easy to set up and use
A. Wiederrich•May 21, 2016
So far I've ran 20+ gallons of wine through the mini jet filter. After processing the first batch it became pretty simple to understand and after that subsequent set up and reuse is really easy. Installing and removing filters is easy and basically foolproof. Cleaning the mini jet before and after each use is not hard but does require caution to avoid getting the motor wet. The only negative I've experienced with the mini jet is the amount of leakage through the filters. With the filter clamps as tight as they can go, I've found that when running a 5-gallon batch about 3 cups leak out of the sides of the filters. The filter tray captures the leakage and the tray hose makes it simple to direct the drainage into a wine glass for sampling on the go.
The amount of leakage and the cost of the mini jet filter system is the main reason I'm not rating it 5 stars.

Filters Clog Easily and Cause Aeration of the Wine
George Roark•May 16, 2016
The pump is quiet and assembles easily, but the filters clog very quickly. Tried using this with one set of #2 filters for an organic apple wine, but the filters clogged within 2 gallons, causing a lot of wine to be deposited into the drip tray and also causing a lot of aeration. It's also difficult to get the output tube inserted into the carboy so that it stays submerged (and reduces aeration).
