Size: Large or Xlarge??

SIZE: My calf measures 18" with jeans and as per their chart is a Large or XLarge....an either way. Large is perfect for me with a 1.5" overlap when buckled. The XLarge, in my opinion, would provide unnecessary overlap to deal with and be bulky.

They fit just right. I am 5 ft, 110 lbs. According to the chart I was supposed to go with a medium, but went with my gut (as I never fit into anything above a small) and got the small and they fit very nicely, with some room to wear over pants. They start JUST below my knees and cover a good portion of my boots. They seem very well made. Easy to put on.

These are invaluable in the areas I work. Snakes can hide pretty much any and everywhere. They also give a great deal of protection from thorn bushes. They are lightweight, and are a fraction of the heat holders a traditional Snake chap would be.
Heavy duty construction that has held up to the occasional back slash from a machete blade. Great level of protection on the area most likely to be targeted by a snake that is startled in the wilderness.
The only issue I have is repeated cinching of the straps has caused them to begin to separate from the main body of the guard. I feel better having the guards tight to my legs to keep out sticker burrs or other nuisance detritus; but I do not believe that level of tightness is needed for the guards to work.

Although no snakes have tried biting through them, they are comfortable and easy to use! They are much better than the pants I have bought in the past and chaps can get really hot during the warm weather here in the south. I can wear lighter or heavier pants with these based on the weather here. I don't know if they actually stop bites so if a snake ever tries and they stop it 100%, I will come back and give the 5th star!
