As indicated, this is a FireWire 800 to FireWire 800 cable. Have used it both to connect an external drive to a computer, as well as to connect two computers together to migrate from one to the other. No issues.
The sides are way too fat and it won't fit ...

The sides are way too fat and it won't fit in my camera. It might fit other items but not a hasselblad. Keep in mind.

A bit loose on my macbook pro and hard drive. My MBP doesn't move from the mount it is on so it doesn't matter too much but if you move around a bit it may cause issues.

Cable did not work on arrival.
I know people are sick of reading DOA 1-star reviews, and Amazon refunded the purchase without issue, but I ordered this cable expecting it to work, and now I have to wait another 2 days for a replacement to arrive. Quality control for a product like this is not hard to do. It's a cable. Test it before it leaves the factory.

I made the mistake of purchasing the shorter 10ft versions of these, so I returned them to Cmple for a refund and placed a second order for these 15ft ones. After several seeks, Cmple failed to issue a return though and I had to contact them directly (and provide proof of return delivery!) to get them to produce a refund (which they ultimately did). Other than that, both sets of cables worked fine and cmple seems to have produced a quality firewire cable. I'm using this to drive data in and out of a Fireface 800 with no issues.
