I bought this in a medium for my 9 year old. He is the size of an 11 year old boy easy. The medium is a little big and I think a small would be perfect. The small would not last long though and he is able to wear a fleece Baklava comfortably under the medium. Luckily these have a great adjustment on the back so we were able to get a perfect fit with the medium and it will grow with him. This helmet also fits me perfect. I have a 22" head and bought both the large and medium based on other reviews. The large is much too big. The medium is perfect even with a baklava under!

I have a 61 cm head, so ordered the X-Large, but it was painfully tight. I ended up peeling back the padding and carving out some of the styrofoam liner on the front where it hits my forehead. The fit would be better for a rounder head. My head is about 2" longer than it is wide, but the helmet is only 1.5" longer than the width. Fortunately, the styrofoam liner is almost 1" thick in front, so there is plenty of room to carve it out. Also. the padding is VERY thin, so it is not only tight but also very hard on the forehead. I probably should have returned it, but it was easy enough to sculpt a custom fit.

Love the simplicity, design, and glossy finish, looks great! Feels sturdy yet lightweight, the goggle loop is really great, holds tight. The chin and micro-adjustable straps are easy to adjust. It can fit quite a range of head circumferences I feel: 56 cm to 62 cm easy but might not be as comfortable in the back if you have to tighten it down that much. I have a 58.5 cm circumference, oval-shaped head, and the L fits just fine.
TIP: think about what you're going to wear under the helmet -- I usually rent a L when snowboarding, but I also wear a knitted cap w/ ball under so that fits perfectly. I'm going to switch to wearing a balaclava so I think a M would fit better (so sold my L to a friend), plus without a knit cap the adjusting dial in the back rests a little low on my neck where I can feel the pressure.
Not a huge issue but the chin rest gets flipped around easily, just have to adjust it after fastening.

Bought 2 of these for our kids, ages 5 & 8. Very happy with these out of the box. They fit great and with the adjustable system should continue to do so for a few years. In fact, I even put one on myself (hat size 7-1/4) and while it was tight and not ideal, did actually fit on my head. Kids liked the bright colors.
