Severely restricts water flow. My sprinkler was sweeping half the area.
Tennessee Phil✓ Verified Purchase•May 20, 2018
Unfortunately, the. Orbit restricts the water flow so much that it seriously degrades the reach of a sprinkler. I quit using it after a day. If you open the valve and blow through it, youi'll feel a significant resistance to air flow. If it significantly restricts air flow, you can imagine what it does to water flow.
Other than the flow restriction, it seems to be reasonabl well made, and the spring timer functions Ok. I specifically selected a simple unit rather than a fancy, programmable one, because my wife is technologically challenged, and I wanted something she could easily set. I don't understand why it's difficult to make an timer valve that doesn't have a good size opening.

Timer sticks open, wastes water

The product look nice and functions for awhile, but then the timer gets stuck sometimes, letting you sprinkler run all night or all day, definitely not worth spending less money than the more expensive digital ones that works for al least a few years. I've only had this for a couple of weeks and it's gotten stuck twice
When will I ever learn

When will I ever learn? I just received two of these, one for me and one for a relative. Neither one of them shuts off or even times down at all. Total waste of water and money.
An earlier version did the exact same thing for me. Come to think of it, I've had trouble with other Orbit devices, but never again. All I can think of is that most positive reviews were submitted too early, before failures happen, as is often the case with reviews. In this case, both failed right away. Very poor.
Amazon seems to be making good on it, but really, it shouldn't be necessary to even go through that. No more Orbit junk...
The best bet is to set a count-down timer of some sort for a reminder to turn the thing off yourself to avoid forgetting.

i had to buy a replacement watering timer mid june 2017. when i replaced this old one that had failed, i noticed that it is the same brand as the one i just bought june 2016. so this one only lasted 11 months. it has leaked for several months then it failed to stop the water. in fact, the timer did not move at all. note to self: do not buy this one again!
UPDATE i have to stop buying this piece of crap product. i have had it 3 days over the return date and it has stopped working. talk about planned obsolescence! DO NOT BUY!!!

I bought this a few months ago to use when filling the watering basin on my grapes. It's large enough to be inconvenient standing there filling it, and it doesn't fit in well with my normal drip irrigation cycles, so I do it "as needed", and this was supposed to be a "set and walk away" way to fill the basin. And for the few months it worked, it worked fine. Then about a week ago two of the screws in the base pulled through and it blew out on one side. I have no idea how long it ran before I found it, but my whole side yard (not a small side yard) was standing in water. I'm really not surprised, I mean it's just plastic. But then again the irrigation valves I use are also "just plastic", cost only a few dollars more, get a LOT more use, and they last for years before needing a diaphragm change before running another few years. This one has a catastrophic failure in a few months? No thank you.
