I got this to add the Halo theme to it. It was rigged up inside a box that held my Christmas saran ball for our family party. When the box was opened and the ball was first seen the Halo theme would play. If you aren't sure what the Halo theme sounds like this won't make sense. I suggest going to listen to it really quick.

It was pretty straight forward setting it up, easier than I anticipate actually. You see the board and speaker and stuff and it can be intimidating but it's simpler than it looks.

Sound quality it pretty good. I wouldn't say GREAT, but good enough for what I was using it for. You won't be disappointed to use it for a personal birthday card, or a funny booby trap joke or something.

It was a little more expensive than I was anticipating but after using it I think it's worth the money.

This product and this company are awesome. When the module arrived, the little tag that keeps the battery from working was out of place, so the batteries had lost their juice and the module didn't work. I emailed the company on a Sunday afternoon, expecting to hear something on Monday. Instead, I received an email on Sunday, soon after I had contacted them. The company rep, Kevin, was very helpful, offering a couple of different responses. I was in a time bind for the project I was working on, and he respected that. I offered to go to the battery store on Monday morning, test the original batteries and, if they were bad, buy new batteries. Kevin sent me instructions about how to replace the batteries (the instructions also are in the original packaging). Good news - the batteries were bad, I replaced them with good batteries and the module works perfectly. Kevin refunded to me the money for the new batteries.

The module is incredibly easy to record, the recording quality is excellent and the module works perfectly. On the website there are multiple videos that walk you through the process of testing, recording, and inserting the module into a card (which is what I am using for). They are done well and the instructions are very clear. When I emailed, their responsiveness was amazing and impressive. I am so grateful for both the quality of their product and the quality of their customer assistance. I recommend this module highly.

Works as intended. Has a clear sound when you record. My only issue with this product is that the wires are not affixed very well.

I am a relatively new greetings card maker and in my later golden years decided this was a way to spend a little enjoyable time but soon learned that I am not very tech savvy. However, I wanted to make a very special musical card for someone. After searching out different websites and you tube videos I came across this on Amazon and decided to try it. It couldn't have been easier. The directions were clear and concise and very easy to follow. Plus it was short and simple from start to finish, even for my granny brain cells. My card came out lovely and I was able to find online the perfect song to record. I have bought the touch button type as well and like it just as much. It works out better for my pop-up cards since I can run the wire through the pop up opening. I really feel I have outdone myself for someone who knows next to nothing about this type of thing. In fact, if I knew how to post a picture I would show you how nice the card came out and that you can't hardly see the instrument. Try it! If I can do it anyone can and it makes cards so much nicer and more appreciated for the personal touch. I want to do more for children. They aren't very costly but I still need to save for it, as do many retirees. Lol . Only wish I could give more stars.

The card arrives with 3 batteries installed - two are easy to replace, if needed, but the third is blocked by the switch on one side and the speaker wires on the other. So obviously not designed for long term usage.

Overall, the unit works surprisingly well and is well suited to purpose. The speaker is better than most I've experienced in commercial "musical cards" and the entire mechanism does not exceed a 1/4 inch height. So very pleased with the ergonomics.

Out-of-the-package I experienced a problem with the record function - I was only able to record for a few seconds and not the advertised 120 seconds. However, there is also a note in the packaging that recommends you remove and reinsert one of the batteries in the event your module does not play. So I tried this (cycled the battery closest to the record button) and the unit now works perfectly and exactly as advertised. Cycling one of the batteries is a good idea!

Given the size of the speaker you aren't going to achieve pristine hifi quality. Out of curiosity I tried a larger speaker (same impedance and power) and got significantly better sound. However for my purpose the included speaker works fine. The fidelity of the sound was also good, given the limitations of the speaker. However I found you need a strong audio source in order to get good volume on playback.

The switch is a interrupter between two contacts on the board (one contact is spring metal). So to disable the unit you insert an insulator (such as the included plastic divider) and to play you simply remove the divider.

Do read the instructions! They are easy to follow and accurate. Overall I am happy with this unit which I'm using on an ornament. I would definitely purchase again.
