Better than a CoinStar Fee.

After finding out that Chase doesn't have coin counting machines anymore, they just have the sleeves. Which they'll gladly give you any amount you'll need. Went home and started counting and rolling by hand, well after an hour+ and just putting a 2 inch dent in a 4 pound coffee can. Started looking into my options. CoinStar takes a 12% commission and this one was less than 30 bucks.
We ended up spending about 4 hours total and with $600 in change rolled up. Granted, I might only use this machine every year or so but I saved 40 bucks over the CoinStar fee already.

Ok now for the real review; A few reviewers stated that the coins would jam up in the hopper, They have redone the hopper so he coins slide into the sorter better. But it will jam-up if you fill the hopper full. I seemed to me it's works better if you just add a handful at a time the weight of the coins seemed to be a problem when the hopper was full. Turning the handle slowly also prevented jams. I also checked the count right away on all coins they were right on, when it fills up the next coin slides off the top into the tray. Stop turning put the coins into a roll, add another hand full keep turning slowly.

The only down side to using a counter is that you don't actually see the coins to check the dates.
A Terrific, Low-Tech Coin Sorter Solution
P1967✓ Verified PurchaseMay 18, 2017
Just got this as a birthday present for myself. It works just as advertised, but as many have commented, don't overload it with coins and don't crank it too rapidly. Try to attain a sort of medium rhythm of cranking and the coins will sort out almost 100% accurately.

My biggest question had to do with knowing when a coin tube was filled. After experimenting, my advice is to fill each coin tube until it reachs the top of the paper tub (inside the plastic tube. Then, when you put out the loaded paper tube from the bottom, you will note that the paper tube has enough left to fold over and seal the coins. (I originally thought that the counter was falling short and was adding more coins to the paper tube to get to its very top. But when you do that, there's no paper left to fold over.)

A terrific, low-tech solution.

UPDATE: having used this sorter for nearly a month, I continue to believe it is a superb low-tech sorter solution. It's by no means perfect, but on the whole, day after day, it works just fine for what is at best a borind, mindless task.

A few pointers:

1. Make sure your do not load foreign coins or game tokens. British coins, but really all non-U.S. coins, as well as game tokens, jam the machine. Tip: taake a handful of coins and closely examine them for outliers before feeding them into the sorter.

2. There are many more pennies than any other denomination, which is a story in itself. Make sure you have plenty of penny sleeves on hand. Next in frequency are quarters (yay), then dimes, and finally nickels. Pennies have a tendency to fly out into the catch basin, followed by nickels for some reason.

3. If you do have a jam and the counter-clockwise turn doesn't free the jam, do NOT keep forcing the matter. Instead, look into the sorter funnel and gently turn the crank while also shaking the entire device. Before long, the offending coin or piece of junk will show itself, and will be easily removable by hand.

4. Finally, do not overload the sorter, or you will just have to re-sort coins. A lesser amount of coins (no more than what you can hold in your hand) works best.

I've sorted more than $500 in coins that were in various containers around the house. Sorting them by hand would have been sheer drudgery. This sorter works very well, as long as you take your time and watch carefully to avoid foreign coins.
I thought this product was great. I've not had any issues and the cranking ...

I thought this product was great. I've not had any issues and the cranking is very satisfying! LOL! We did experience a jam but were able to clear it right away. You have to fill the tubes before you put the coins into the wrappers, though. We tried it both ways (before and after) to see what worked best and concluded that using your index finger to keep wrapper open while you maneuver the wrapper around the top part of the coins, then flipping it over (now using your index finger to keep the coins in place), was the best method. It was a lot of fun!
Awesome counter - very happy with purchase

This counter is awesome! I did like the one reviewer who mentioned that he weighed his coin rolls to verify the count; that worked beautifully. I had no issues with this machine at all - it sorted through almost $200 in changes without a single problem. I was considering only giving 4 stars because I couldn't get the last 10 or so coins to sort, no matter how much I juggled and thumped it. I did not have the see-through top, so I couldn't see what the problem might be, but once I turned it over and shook out the remaining coins I realized that the problem was that I had somehow gotten one of those really stupid "Presidents" dollar coins. Almost exactly the same size as a quarter, but just different enough that it got stuck and wouldn't allow the rest of the coins to sort. Ridiculous things. Once I had set that coin aside, I reloaded the remaining coins and they sorted perfectly. I am so glad I purchased this coin counter, it's so much better than counting by hand or paying to have coins sorted at a store (and those almost always jam anyhow).
More accurate without the wrappers
Susan✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 18, 2016
I find that it is best not to use coin wrappers in the tubes. I used them at first, but I wanted to test the accuracy. I therefore dumped out each wrapper to count the coins manually. I found when using the wrappers the coins were one or two short. If you use no wrappers and let the coins fill to the point were they now overflow, you'll have the right amount of coins in each stack. You can then easily slide the wrapper over the stack of coins.
