I purchased the Chef'n EcoCrock Countertop Compost Bin in steel grey which is thoughtfully designed with an inner liner bucker, a filter, and a functional handle on the lid. It is attractive on the kitchen counter. The inner liner has a handle which makes taking the compostables to the bigger outdoor bin easy. However, I accidentally hit the bottom of the liner against the bigger bin when emptying the contents and the liner cracked. I emailed Chef'n Customer Service who responded the next day and sent out a replacement unit after I verified my purchase. The replacement arrived within days. It is one of the best customer service experiences ever. They really stand behind their products. I am a happy customer!

The county I live in recently made composting a requirement. They provided free, flimsy countertop buckets that were not only a total eye sore, but were constantly losing their lids. After a month of using the city provided bucket, I had enough, got rid of it, and got this one to replace it. I love that it has a removable inner bucket and a filter for odors. It's a game changer.
I think some of the negative reviews and complaints about maggots come from people who don't understand how frequently a countertop composting bin has to be dumped. You should be dumping your bin at least once a day, sometimes twice, regardless of if it's full or not. Otherwise, yeah there's going to be maggots in your house, that's just how it works. That's not the fault of the bin, that's on you for not dumping it more frequently.
