Safe not safe 🤔👎

The lock on this thing is ridiculously easy to pick. Mine came locked with no key and a dead battery. With a wire crimp tube and a paperclip it took about 10 seconds to unlock. For the price of this thing, that's absurd.
Overall AWESOME gun vault! But needs some screw upgrades.

HonestReview- This is my first gun safe/vault, whatever you want to call it. I purchased it for 3 reasons: 1. to keep my kids from having access to my firearm. 2. quick access to my firearm. 3. to keep intruders from getting to my firearm (if I'm in a different room). I have 3 pistols at the moment that's all placed in different locations in my house with a lock on it. The GunVault SV 500 is simply awesome but with some minor flaws. The vault is strong enough and secure enough to keep the kids from accessing it. The combination is actually really easy to use and program, and the good thing about the combination is that you have the option to make the code simple (using 1 digit entry) or really complicated (using a combination of numbers as 1 entry). The LED light inside is a nice touch, I wish it was on just a tad little longer though, not a big deal. The foam inside is very nice and secure, keeps your pistol from moving, only downfall is that if you have a laser light, you will need to modify the foam which is not fun. Removable foam would have been nice, but I know they didn't do that because when you remove your gun the foam would have came out with it. I like that this vault is big enough to secure your pistol and also extra magazine on the sides of your pistol (check out my pics as a reference). You can also cut some foam out so you can slide your magazine in there and store it that way. There is a lot of ways to do it, just gotta be creative.
My real issues with the vault are due to the hardware, specifically the mounting plate screws provided. They are cheap and short and needs to be replaced if you want this vault to be really secure from burglary (check out my pics to see the screw provided its about 1/2" bite). With the screws provided I feel that if I gave a few kicks/stomps to this mounted vault, it would come off fairly easily. But with the self tapping lag screws I bought from Homedepot (watch the head size) this is now 10x harder to get off. Depending on where you are mounting it (night stand, computer desk, stud on the wall) the length of the screw you're going to use is going to vary obviously. The stud on the wall is going to be the best option, however not everyone has that option. Mine is currently mounted to the inside of my computer desk using 4 lag screws from Home Depot and one nut/bolt/washer combo (had to drill the hole on the plate myself). Now I believe this system is secure. The only way a burglar is going to get access to that firearm is by breaking down the computer desk first, then taking the whole safe with him so he can pry it open later at his leisure. Another issue is the thumb screws provided (mounts the vault itself to the base plate), they are small as well and also a weak point. I haven't gotten to upgrading that part yet, but will update this with my suggestions when I get there. Please see my pics for more details on this vault. Overall I am very pleased with this vault that I actually ordered another one for my bedroom.

As Henry Ford said.......

This is my second Speedvault. The first was placed in a concealed spot so looks didn't matter but the second was going to be placed in a rather open area so the vault needed to blend. As Henry Ford said "You can have any color car you want, so long as it's black" seems to be Speedvault's mantra too. I decided to strip the vault down to it's shell right out of the box, easy.... Then I spray painted the vault antique white to blend with the wall and I think the results look good.
Gunvault is Perfect for my needs

This is a really neat product. I attached it to my nightstand, so it is pretty well hidden between my nightstand and my bed, and it holds my SIG securely and safely. I like the fact that I have to enter a code, because if I'm not awake enough to enter a code, I'm not awake enough to handle a semi-automatic weapon. It installed well, it operates great, and I think I'll be buying one for under my desk at my office.
The biggest reason I wanted it was because the grandkids come over a lot, and I wanted my weapons safe from their little hands, yet easily accessible in an emergency. The attached picture shows how nicely the unit fits (hides) between my nightstand and bed.

Im going to paste the issue and email I sent to amazon regarding the gun vault- Please Read!! Im having a problem with your product and hope you are going to stand behind your product. I purchased the SV500. Unfortunately it drains the batteries quickly, which is a known fact about this product. Here is the problem. The battery has drained and when I used the provided key, the entire tubular lock collapsed into the safe. Its very scary that inserting a key into a safe will cause it to fail. My personal defense weapon is inside the safe. Obviously, i have to crack it open somehow to retrieve my pistol, but now Im out a safe that I purchased for $137.15. Again, I am hoping that you will stand behind your product and give me solutions. Im assuming the speed vault was faulty. I don't think this is a normal occurrence, especially for a safe that is supposedly reliable. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. I will post pics regarding the issue. I will also post a pic of the the lock is supposed to look like vs what happened with mine gun vault the moment I inserted the key. Very scary to know that if there was an emergency and the battery was drained, the key would not do me any good as well. Very scary, I can NOT recommend this product at this time. Seems like mine was a defect... The final picture is a different safe- this is what a tubular lock is supposed to look like. Not a gaping collapsed hole when the key is inserted!!!!
