Great for GMRS, 2m FRS
Dingo The Pet Berry Tree Hunter✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 19, 2017
What I enjoy about this radio is how I can program the GMRS, 2m and FRS frequencies on it. Those annoying children with their walkie talkies get blasted out by this 65watt beast! Don't bother with the instruction manual as it's horrible. Programs through a pc with the included software.
VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

If you purchase this radio, make sure to buy Amazon's 4-year protection plan as well. This radio lasted less than 6 months (the manufacturer's warranty period), but TYT did not honor their guarantee. Very POOR customer service. I do NOT recommend this radio to anyone, especially NOT to new Hams.
The Factory Cannot Program My Radio Either
H2 Evans✓ Verified PurchaseJune 24, 2017
I have been working with a factory representative to try to be able to program this radio by the software and drivers they have sent me. No success of any kind is the result of several weeks of effort.

I can not program with CHIRP either, but I can program several other Baofeng and QYT radios with CHIRP using the same USB cable and one other USB cable.

The [email protected] factory representative has been diligent, but not successful. They are running out of things to try and have not responded now in several days. They have made no suggestions on diagnostics or replacement of the radio.

This is all in addition to the weeks I have spent purchasing cables and downloading software and drivers.

It is now October 23 2017 and still can't program the Radio. I have been very polite with the Factory, but they no longer respond at all. I have asked for a replacement and or parts. All they have sent has been software that made no difference. Is there any way to get warranty replacement for this radio??? The Amazon vendor has offered no help either.

The radio works fine. I didn't want to have a really expensive radio in the car and this unit so far works well. The only complaint is the way TYT advertises the back lighting color on all the packaging making it appear Yaesu like. Orange is not an option as pictured. Mine has red, blue and green.

A programming cable is a time saver and well worth it. The Chirp program works fine with it
Nice radio...

Despite what everyone says about a Chinese radio this one is a Workhorse. I can honestly say the radio to the power output. On high power it's transmitting 70 watts. I do recommend running the radio on low power because the radio will heat up a little. I installed a small aftermarket fan on top of the radio and it really does an excellent job keeping it cool. . I do want to stress that this is an amateur radio and you do need an amateur license. I have hit repeaters easily 75 up to 100 miles away. Programming manually on the radio is very easily..... I read the owner's manual approximately 10 minutes and the understanding of the radio and program it. I would definitely recommend this radio to anybody has great receives and everyone gives me a good audio check they tell me the audio is very clear. Even though the radio looks very similar like the BTECH 5001 it is a different radio on the inside completely different and menu. Make sure if use this radio for a base you need a power supply capable 15 or more amps .....The bese antenna is a comet x50 which is available on Amazon....and I recommend LMR 400 flex coax. .
Update. ....have had the radio for 9 months and NO ISSUES at all...... The power & audio are still loud and proud. ....10/13/17....It's been about a year now and the radio is still working fine. ..No issues at all. ...73s......Update 1 year now and radio working better than ever. ....
