Sometimes I can't sleep and I want to play solitaire in the middle of the night. With my earlier free app, I had no way of turning off the sounds from the ads, so playing would disturb my husband's sleep. This version has no annoying ads, and I can play it without any sounds. There is only one small problem keeping me from giving it a perfect rating: It often puts up some resistance to moving cards from one stack to another. I sometimes have to make more than one attempt before I successfully complete the move. Not a big deal, but could use a little tweaking to make it a perfect product.
Excellent

This is an excellent version of Solitaire and it works very well on the new Kindle Fire HDX. In the past, I had been playing a version of Solitaire on my Kindle Paperwhite. This version was very sluggish and it took awhile for the program to respond when you are moving cards around or when you were restarting a new game. This new version, called Solitaire+ that I am using on my Kindle Fire HDX is a greatly improved game. In addition to the fact that the cards are now in color, the game is very responsive and you can quickly move cards around. Beware though!! This game of Solitaire is a very addictive game, and once you start playing the game, the time can go by very quickly before you know it.
No Ads and Good Functionality Totally Worth Paying For

Like other reviewers I had major problems with another developer's Solitaire app, which was streaming video ads to my device with every new game. When I contacted the developer their response was that if I was on wi-fi at least it wouldn't eat my bandwidth; and that if I turned on airplane mode while I played the videos wouldn't load.
That seemed like a lot of trouble for a "free" app, and I ended up uninstalling. Looking at this one, it looks as good as or better than the egregious ad-streaming app. It came in a free version, but to be honest being ad-free is entirely worth the dollar, especially after the horrible experience with the other app.
I do wish there was a "new game" button anchored to the playfield. The app offers this after a winning game, but if you don't win you must open the options menu to select "new game". It's a small quibble, but prevents me from giving the app five stars (which I construe as perfection). However, overall the game is highly functional, easy on the eyes, and, best of all, does not hijack my device to sell me stuff. I'm happy to recommend it.
