A necessary tool for installation of tubing. Purchased a new tubing which I could not install without this tool. Could have used old tube, would have been a little shorter and much cheaper than the new tube purchased from power tool manufacturer.
Do you really need this tool?

YES...you do. I was on the fence at first because of its cost. Plus the fact I would probably use this tool only once. But the ease of use working with LocLine, far outweighs the cost as well as erases all doubts of purchasing this tool for the job. Trust me...just buy it. Your time has got to be worth something.

Not necessary for aquarium use

I use linelock fittings for my aquarium, and in the past had always just snapped the pieces together by hand. I felt like becomming a professional today and buy the actual pliers. To my surprise the pliers don't have any function to separate 2 pieces? I may be wrong, but it looks like these things will only connect 2 pieces, and you have to pull them apart by hand.
For aquarium grade (black) line lock fittings, I don't think the pliers are necessary. I'm assuming the coolant line fittings fit more tightly and such. But if you just use this stuff for aquariums, I wouldn't bother buying a set of these pliers.
