Good solid RAM.

I'm working on my third build and first AMD platform. I went with my favorite case, the Rosewill FBM-02. It's attractive but a tight fit for an uATX board.
Originally, I bought Corsair memory sticks. They're very pretty with tall heat spreaders and the specs were right. When I installed them I discovered that there was no clearance for my hard drive to install. This was maddening since I only needed a few more millimeters of clearance.

I learned a lesson there. Always check your installation clearances on everything, not just the usual CPU heatsink issue.

Reluctantly, I had to return my Corsair memory (which I'm sure was fine), and pay the return shipping, about $8.

I finished my build and started my computer with the Crucial sticks on Sunday, April 12th, 2015. Everything runs perfectly. I installed Memtest86
and did a very thorough 6 hour run. Not one error. Great!

Incidentally, if you haven't built a computer before, I strongly recommend that you download a free copy of Memtest86 and burn it to a blank CD.
The beauty of this program is that it is bootable and so not only does it test your memory while still returnable, but it also allows you to power-up your computer and confirm essential functions. My AMD processor runs at about 27 to 35 degrees Celsius during the Memtest.
Perfect for heating heat sink paste and bonding it to the CPU, as well as confirming monitor display and disc drive functions.
Best of all, this can be done without connecting your hard drive or "committing" to a specific Operating System.

This was my first use of Crucial RAM. I'm quite pleased with it and will consider Crucial for future memory needs.
Simple Necesssary Device for Heavier Duty Computer Operation

This is a pretty simple looking device, no moving parts, but we know that it is a sophisticated device that enables your computer to process heavier programs and do it faster. I am using 4 of these on a multiple boot computer, 8 Operating Systems, total. 2 Win 8 - 32 bit, 2 Win 8 64 bit........ 2 Win 7 32 and 2 Win 7 - 64 bit. I am doing this to experiment as to what works best and also because I am into Flight Simming and some software works on Win 7 and it does not work on Win 8. Some works on 32 bit and not on 64 bit......Some works on FSX Sp2 or Acceleration Pack and some does not. There are other reasons why and I found that I could resolve most of the problems with multiple OS. Now, this gets involved, but it works. Others might try that or not want to try it. I have also found that Win 7 is better for FSX and expecially, FS 2004. FS 2004 will work on Win 8 32 bit but not on 64 bit. Landing lights do not all work on FSX Sp2 or Acceleration Pack, but they work on regular FSX Sp1. I have tried many of the recommended solutions for the various issues. Some worked, some did not. The multiple boot system is involved, but it works......Getting back to these Memory sticks, they are solid, they mount right in nicely and the computer recognizes them right away and hopefully, it will help in 64 bit OS's to stop the FSX program from running out of memory as it tends to do in 32 bit. These do not help in a 32 bit operating system because the most the computer can use is 4GB, so don't expect any performance increase there, but in 64 it does make a difference. This was also the best price I could find. Hope that helps...........SHALOM............Brother Randahl

Once in a while, my desktop would freeze, or crash with a message of memory dump. Not sure if the original RAM contributed to these or they were caused by something else altogether. At other times, the PC just seemed slow, especially when I had several applications open and running. Thinking the PC's original RAM maybe insufficient or getting old or both, I started to look for additional RAM. Online searches suggested using the tool on Crucial website to scan the computer for compatible RAM, I did just that. It scanned my computer and told me that it had 4GB of RAM (2 x 2 GB), and that there are two empty slots available. It also provided me details about my current RAM (DDR3, 1333 MHz, etc.) and compatible Crucial RAM modules. Very nice tool!

I decided to get 2 additional modules of 4GB each or total of 8GB. I almost purchased the Corsair Vengeance because of its popularity. But then I read how some users had fit and clearance issues with the Vengeance due to its size. To avoid that problem, I went with these Crucial Ballistix 2x4 GB modules.

Upon opening my desktop PC tower to install the Crucial RAM sticks, I was glad that I went with these Ballistix. They are the same height as the original RAM modules, and there is not much clearance. I removed the original 2x2 GB modules (already 6 years old) and put them in the slots that have been open since purchase. Then I inserted the Ballistix in their place to have them closest to the CPU. Installation was very easy and quick. Afterward, I verified that the system now recognizes that total RAM is now 12 GB (new 8G + original 4G).

It has been two weeks since I installed the Ballistix modules. So far no more crashes. Also everything just seems much quicker than before, especially when I have multiple applications running at the same time.

Very glad I purchased this item. I should have done this sooner.
Great Value

I ended up buying two sets of this RAM to get a total of 16 GB across 4 sticks. I have not had any issues using this kit. and at the time when I bought it it provided a great price for the amount of RAM its performance and reliability. Overall, a great set of DD3.
