I bought this can crusher to replace an old one because cans nowadays are taller and most wouldn't fit in our original can crusher. When we got this one the screws did not fit so we had to use the screws from the original unit. My seven-year-old was going to be in charge of crushing cans but apparently he's too strong for this can crusher! At about the 8th can the padded handle snapped off.
We didn't get this can crusher mounted right away so we are 5 days past the 30 day return policy.
Cheaper is not always the way to go.

Works well, but bottom slides out

The crusher works pretty well for pop cans. It's too small for those tall beer or energy drink cans, though. It doesn't smash them as flat as I would like, but it's not bad. The main issue with this crusher is that if you're not careful, the bottom of the can will get pushed out, which messes up crushing the can. To prevent that, just hold the bottom of the can in place with your thumb while you're crushing it to keep it from sliding out, and it will do just fine every time. I probably would have given it 3.5 stars if I could have. I gave it 4 instead of 3 because it works well when you figure it out.

I remember having one of these as a kid. This was just like the one I owned. I met a guy in Sturgis who lives in San Francisco and he loves his Keystone Lite. He is up in the morning, crushing all the cans with his feat by stamping on them. Uncle Clayton told me that this man could bugger his ankels up, so I bought this for him for his birthday and he loves it. Sadly Keystone cans are a little bit taller by a few MM, but they are narrower. He was disappointed they did not fit in correctly, so he squashes the sides of the cans with his hands and they fit nicely. In Sanfrancisco when I staid there for the final fortnight of my trip around the USA, I squashed cans with this thing and it works like a charm.
It's certainly tough and does it's job well. Pitbull is a good name for it.

We've crushed at least 20 (30 gallon size) bags of cans with this and it's still going strong. I do recommend a small drop of 3-in-1 oil at the joints now and then to keep down on friction. The little foam grip on the handle didn't last very long, but I put a piece of rubber tubing on to replace it.
Update: 12/13/17 This thing is still crushing cans with ease! I thought, with the rivets and all, it would be trashed by now. This may be the best mechanical device I've ever purchased. Upgrading to a 5 star. Hats off to you pit bull.

I really like this Pit Bull can crusher. It works great, and I did not realize when I purchased it that the handle was padded. That was a great surprise! Every other can crusher we have owned has not had a padded handle. This is probably the fourth can crusher we have been on, and it is by far the best one yet. My husband just screwed it to a piece of two by four and attached that to the stud in the garage. It took all of about five minutes to hang. I definitely recommend this can crusher, and will buy it again when the time comes for a new one.
