Great for aquaponics floating raft

This review is not a reflection of the price - this cost a lot more than if you can find it locally. You are receiving 2 sheets that are 2 foot by 4 foot, essentially half of a full sheet for twice the local price. Unfortunately for me I couldn't find it locally and none of the big box stores would order it. Anyways, I bought these for an aquaponics setup and they are perfect for a floating raft. Turns out having them pre cut to this size made it easier to work with. I tried one of those hot knifes that look like a soldering iron - don't waste your time. Because of the thickness of the foam they don't go through very straight. A battery powered circular saw was much easier and made a cleaner cut.

This stuff is great, also known as xps or extruded polystyrene. it cuts, shapes, glues, and is like working with clay or plaster but easier. cuts well with knife / razor or hot knife. Problem here is the shipping, it is a bulky item and takes up space, that's why it's expensive. they sell different versions of this like at homedepot on the east coast but not necessarily on the west coast. Your local store may special order it but for a 4x8 sheet 2" thick you're looking at $40+ easily. there is a place in burbank ca called foam mart which does carry it if you need to know more. hope this helps
