Planned Obsolescence?...
Bindy Sue Frønkünschtein✓ Verified PurchaseFebruary 24, 2017
NOTE: Please read through to the end, as things have definitely changed over time! >>ORIGINAL REVIEW- We purchased these PANASONIC 6.0 CORDLESS PHONES along w/ the OOMA TELO SYSTEM (back in 2013), and couldn't be more satisfied. After 3+ years of daily use, these phones keep right on working. We've switched out the batteries, but have had NO trouble w/ the phones at all. A quality set for a great price. Highly recommended... END OF ORIGINAL REVIEW UPDATE #2 (7-6-17)- The phones still blink "charging". Now, in addition to this, they're blinking w/ "Insert Battery", even though we just installed ALL NEW batteries in all three remaining phones! Also, on a bizarre, sort of creepy note, the handsets seem to be blinking back and forth to each other! Like their communicating! I know they're not, but it adds a weird flavor to this whole thing! Just awaiting their full demise, so we can get some new phones. That is, unless they are plotting our demise instead!...
UPDATE #3 (7-28-17)- Well, the second handset (out of the original four) has died. It beeped twice, then simply croaked, it's screen going blank forever! Now, my review for this phone has "evolved". It started out at 5 stars, dropping to 4, now 3. It had three good years, then, Pfffftt! I was also just reminded that we had another one of the PANASONIC phone sets do the exact same thing, causing us to purchase this set! Ugh! Now it goes down to 2 stars! We now need new phones, but will be looking at other brands...

I am not sure what kind of stars to give this, since the seller shipped the newer version (KX-TGE233B ) of this phone. I purposely ordered this phone instead (KX-TG4733B) because the reviews were better and the reviews for the newer version weren't as good.

I didn't like the KX-TGE233B. I am wondering if it was defective because I have had other cordless panasonic phones and they were so much better.

For one thing, the talk time was incredibly low on all handsets. They come in under 4 hours before needing to be recharged. The other issue is that there are odd sounds. Sometimes there would be clicking sounds. At other times, there was static. In speaker mode, there was feedback a feedback which seemed to pick up noise in my space.

I have been using Panasonic cordless phones for at least eight years and this is the first time I have heard such consistent noise. I ended up returning them and I purchased the KX-TG7875S. It's more expensive and I have no interest in the link2cell function. However, as a phone, it seems to be a major improvement.
Just what I was looking for

I've had my own Panasonic cordless phone system for years and I've been totally satisfied with it. My 95 year old mother had a corded phone next to her bed, a corded wall phone in the kitchen, and a single older cordless phone in her den. It was terribly inconvenient when she answered a call and had to stand next to the kitchen counter or sit on her bed to talk, or ask the caller to wait while she walked to the den to get the cordless phone. I got the new Panasonic system for her and she absolutely loves it! She said she feels liberated, able to answer a call and move around her home without being tethered. She really enjoys the answering machine feature, and the ability to store 50 numbers for speed calling. She's impressed that adding a contact on one phone automatically adds it to the other phones as well. The large numbers and lighted screen make it easy for her to see, and the speaker phone feature lets her talk hands-free when she wants. She's always been a little leary about "new technology," but she had no problem figuring out how to use this phone.
Very good phone/answering system

I got this after my Uniden machine died and reading reviews. It is taking me some time get used to all the differences between my old machine and this one. At first I did not like it but it was just a case of teaching an old dog new tricks, now the more I get used to it the more I like it.
The Good:
* Design is clean and uncluttered, uses standard AAA size batteries (cheap to replace). Display readability is excellent- bright, big, good contrast. Buttons are a good size (big) and easy to read.
* Instruction booklet is better than most and you can download a PDF on line.
* MANY programming options, almost too many. In addition to all the ones you might expect, here are some you may not. Handset paging; Alarm (once /daily); Talking caller ID; Handset naming; Call blocking (up to 30 #'s); and Voice mail access.
* Sound quality is very good and a two stage tonal equalizer lets you make it even better. It's easy to cycle through the equalizer while you're using the phone.
* Range is outstanding. I was able to go over 300 feet down the street before noticing a degradation.
* Long (18 min) record time.
* Good volume range and easy to adjust. Speaker phone is clear and good volume.
The Bad
* Charging stands are very light weight so it tips and slides around easily.
* Head phone jack is poorly located. It gets in the way of your hand when using.
* With so MANY programming options it can take a lot of key strokes to do what you want.
Great clarity

Got this phone to replace an older Panasonic 2-handset w/answering system that was wearing out.

This one has much better clarity and much better battery life (I have left a handset off the charger for several days and still have full battery).

LIKES: 1) Clear calls. 2) Long battery life. 3) Standard size batteries for easy replacement if needed. 4) Phonebook entries entered on one handset are saved for entire system and accessible from other handset without having to "transfer" phone book like on my old Panasonic. 5) Likewise, clearing caller i.d. on one handset clears caller i.d. for both handsets.

DISLIKES: 1) Voice announces incoming caller at base unit. I have turned it off on both handsets, but have not yet figured out how to turn it off at the base unit. It is rather annoying. 2) "Wall-mountable" is misleading. Yes, you can mount the base to the wall, but it mounts in a horizontal position, exactly how it would sit on the counter, so it sticks way out. Ends up getting in the way, so we just left it on the counter, even though part of the reason I purchased it was to mount it on the wall like our old Panasonic (base mounted vertically, and charging slot was shaped so the handset could slide down into it and be held in place).

Overall, I like it and would buy it again.
