Line-in system is not working. So be prepared that you can't use it on the speaker.

This is a nice little machine. It is really a lot of fun to play along with it. I got it for a more fun beat to practice my sitar with as compared to metronome app I was using. It is much more fun and has a lot of variety. I like experimenting with different thekas on a given song. There is a chart of all the thekas on the bottom of the unit plus they are in the manual, and you can print off a manual at Rdelindia dot com website. (If you save the PDF and then print to fit page you can have a nice big easy to read chart!)

I was worried that it may be way too complicated to use but it is not. You can use the basic functions "“ change taal, change volume, and change speed within a matter of minutes. That means you can be using it with the basic functions the same day with little difficulty. You can learn the more advanced features little by little as you go along and will be at no loss if you don't get around to it. I have only begun to explore it.

The unit can play surprisingly loud. When I first plugged it in out of the box, the volume was set very high and I got quite a surprise but the speakers were not hurt. One thing I did note was that when you use the "line out" feature for speakers or an amp the sound will still come out the unit's speakers as well as the other speaker or amp. I don't consider that a problem, but if you plan on using headphones, other people in the house will still hear the unit.

Overall I think the unit does quite a lot and is worth the money. I think it is reasonably priced for what you get and what it does. It seems rather solid at this point and I have yet to see the brand being trashed as a whole. Even if I only lasts 3 years (time of warranty) and stops, I will probably get another one.

There are thekas in the following beats per measure :16, 14, 11, 7, 12, 8, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 15, 20, 28, 48, and 32. The counter in the display is helpful for counting the beat or not getting lost.

The speed will go from 10 beats per minute to almost 600. I got as far as 578 but that is a ridiculously fast speed that you will never use that speed anyway.
