Awesome. This is my first harp
Alexa wickey✓ Verified Purchase•June 12, 2018
Awesome. This is my first harp. So I really have nothing to compare it to. It did take a few weeks for the harp to hold it's key. The one I got is the black one, which came with the tuning key. I think the cheapest one doesn't. So I would recommend getting the one with the tuning key because you really cannot do anything without it, and I could not easily find a replacement. The strings are placed far enough apart that I can actually get my fingers to hit the right ones WITHOUT hitting other strings at the same time. Really important. This is a very light harp, so taking it with you outside is not a problem, as long as you keep it away from moisture and extreme temperatures. I was able to use a guitar strap that I had lying around and it fits this harp perfectly. The pins that are installed are very convenient for taking the harp with you. I am planning on upgrading to a larger harp. Remember that this does not have the tuning levers and so if you want to change the key, you have to individually tune the strings again. But all in all, I am very pleased with this instrument. I have played horns, piano, guitar, sax, etc, so I know what a good instrument sounds like. This is a very good beginner's harp. It is not going to sound like a high end floor harp by any means, but it is good for a beginner. I would suggest going on YouTube to hear sound comparisons if you are on the fence. But for around $400, I do not think this sound can be beaten. Also as a note, PLEASE do not get the Pakistan harps that are here for the same price. You MAY get a good one, but more often than not, they are duds. Just a warning for the new harp player:)
Natural maple pretty harp. No levers.

I admit, I was skeptical of purchasing the "last one" harp from ShopOnADime, but the harp came on time and in good condition. There is one spot that appears to be a small rub spot, but I am very happy with the product and the delivery. It came with only the harp, no tuning key, strap, etc., but I am very glad it came well packed and as scheduled. Sounds good and I may upgrade to the wound base srings, but it is nice as is for learning to play a new instrument.
I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Have been wanting one of these for years and finally made the purchase. I love this harp and it's perfect for my use. I've always wanted to learn to play the harp and now I can. It has a very nice sound, is lightweight and easy to tune. I use a Snark tuner for best results.
Good starter harp, but with logistical issues.

This harp was bought as a practice instrument for my daughter, a teenager who is very musical. It appears to be well made and the tone is good for an instrument of this size (and cost). It is small and lightweight and that does mean that the sound doesn't have the resonance or volume of something with a bigger soundbox. My daughter finds it easy and comfortable to play. It even holds tone fairly well (but see below) at least through the upper end of the register.
The reason I gave it 3 stars was:
1. The packaging was awful and I feel lucky that the harp wasn't damaged in transit. I had trepidation on opening the box to find that the harp was wrapped only in a bit of foam and a single sheet of paper. It was loose in the box with no peanuts or other packing material.
2. There is no tuning wrench and I am still looking for the correct size of wrench for this harp. It is not 4 or 5mm. I have purchased the one linked to this item on Amazon only to find it is too big (and not returnable!). This is a major problem as any stringed instrument that is plucked will go out of tune very quickly.
Overall, a good purchase, but be forewarned about the two issues above.

Great instrument. I have been a musician since age ...

Great instrument. I have been a musician since age 8. I studied classical guitar for 20 years, and I have continued to play for 50 years now. I wanted a new challenge, so I chose the harp. This harp is comfortable to play, even spacing on the strings, nice action, and good tone. A harp stick is a great help. I plan on moving up to the levered harp next year.
