This is a high quality oyster sauce, a good value for the money, especially if you are going to use a lot of oyster sauce. There is no fishy taste, just salty, umami flavor in a thick base. Gluten avoiders, caution: this sauce contains wheat in its soy sauce ingredient. I noted that the manufacturing date on my bottles was 18 months prior to my purchase date. The bottle shows an "expiration date" of two years after the product was made, so I had six months to use the sauce before it "expired." However, I expect that the product will be very good for a long time after that because of its high sodium content.

I always have fish sauce around so I've always substituted it for oyster sauce assuming they were the same thing. I recently decided to bulk up my "speciality item" pantry and oyster sauce finally made the list.
It is delicious and SO different from fish sauce. For me fish sauce is one of those "smells and tastes horrible on its own" ingredients but it sure does improve a dish when used in moderation. Oyster sauce I could eat out of the bottle. It's sweet and salty with a mild fish flavor. It's very rich and thick like syrup. It definitely adds a whole new dimension to dishes, one that fish sauce alone can't comparison to.
I've never had oyster sauce before. Well. I'm sure I've had it in dishes from restaurants but I've never cooked with it or tasted it on its own, so, I don't know how this brand compares to others. I love it and think it's delicious. I may try another brand next time I order to see how it compares but then again, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

This is, by far, the best oyster sauce I have ever had. I could just put a straw in the bottle and drink it! :) It's not salty like other brands I have tried. Will definitely order more.

I only have one recipe that requires oyster sauce, and wasn't happy with store brand so I tried this. It was better.
