Amazing stuff!
Regan✓ Verified Purchase•August 3, 2023
I have never used shea butter before, so i did not know what to expect. I had no idea how hard this stuff is to spread on your skin!! At first I was ready to give up after a couple applications bc of the time consuming effort it takes to put on. I really wanted to put this on my skin though b/c after reading all the things shea butter does for your skin, and all the ways to use it, I persevered, and read about it, and experiemented with it. Here is what I do: I only put it on if I am not going out of the house, or not going out of the house for a long long time (ie not putting clothes on I don't want to get oil stains on). I scoop some out of the jar a spoon (you will have the same container for at least six months to a year if you are only using it to put on skin, and not make soap or lotions with it, so you don't want the bacteria from your fingers staying in your jar of shea butter) place the shea butter between my palms, and wait about five seconds and then start rubbing my palms together until the shea butter turns into an oil. The heat from your hands will soften it and make it spreadable. Then I spread it on my body. A very tiny amount goes a long way! I was putting too much on at first and it was not soaking in.I was an oily mess! I had to wipe it off to get dressed. So, if you use a small amount it doesnt take too long to soak in, and you won't be oily. I use this on my face everynight and let it soak in overnight while sleeping. It does not clog pores. I love the way my skin looks and feels after using this. I even put small amout in my hair at night. Keeps the ends from drying out. Washes out easily. I put it on my husband's psoriasis spots and I think they look better, not flaky and smaller. I put it on my cuticles and it keeps them from cracking. Apparently not all shea butters are not created equal, so make sure you are getting a high quality, pure product.
Its the best body butter and cheaper than any store bought body butter. Surprised!

I searched high and low for a quality organic unrefined shea butter that wasn't too expensive. The container was safe plastic and that it was organic really sold me. It was solid inside, but easily scooped out. I used a 50/50 mixture of shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler to make a coconut body butter lotion (a quarter of the container). I also added 3 drops of lavender essential oil for scent & relaxation. After it was heated & merged, I let sit for an hour, then whipped up with a hand mixer. It is honestly the best body butter I have ever used. The coconut oil requires a little more time to absorb in the skin, but is worth it when winter comes around. I have really soft skin and I have this Shea Butter to attribute to! It also will last me about 4 batches of lotion (probably a year with daily use). Totally worth the time and processing!
I used to buy one container of body butter from Victorias Secret for $25. Now I make it for half the cost, and 4x the batches. And the best part is that it softened my skin better than the other brand!

Great for dry skin

I love shea butter - it's amazing for extremely dry skin and isn't painful on open cuts like some other creams are (ie ones with alcohol in them, which also causes a drying effect anyway)
This is just pure shea butter. People tell me it smells bad or too strong but I kind of like it. It's like a smoky white chocolate scent. When you first open it, it's got this strange grainy/beady texture on top, but that doesn't really concern me. Nice big jar that's easy to get into and hold. I've read that you should portion off shea butter into smaller jars if you plan on using it raw to eliminate possibility of contamination, but I just use it straight out of the jar (or in a tiny container for carrying paces).
Now for shea butter in general. It's not for everyone- some people have remarked that they would never use something so greasy on their skin, or some people have told me it smells bad (that goes away after its been rubbed in, by the way). That's fine. For me though, this is a miracle worker. I have severely dry skin and this is the only thing that I've found that actually feels good to put on. Too many times I've tried products that are actually drying, or are sticky/tacky, or just plain hurt (as I also have eczema on my hands, which can make anything painful during an outbreak)
This works wonders for sunburn too. I'm ghostly white and when I get sunburn, I get it bad. Somehow, if I put shea butter on the burn the day I get it/before It gets too bad, it seems to lessen the burn. Nice!
Keep in mind that this is raw shea butter - it's very hard to rub it. body temperature melts it quiet nicely if you're using only a little bit, putting in it more of a liquid oily state. if you are trying to rub in a LOT over a large area, though, it takes some patience. At room temperature this is probably about the consistency of cold butter. On the other hand, if you leave it somewhere warm, it'll turn to liquid, so be careful what you store it in if you take it with you on a hot day (I've liquify and run all over the inside of my bag because I kept it in a non-airtight container....)
You can cetainly make your own creams with this by whipping the shea butter an adding other oils. I don't do this but my mom does. I prefer to use it raw since I use a ton of it and I feel like working to rub it in harder makes it soak in better. But the whipped stuff is much easier to apply.

Great product for homemade salves, lotions, and more!

I purchased this shea butter to make my own salves, lotions, and diaper cream.
There are tons of recipes and tutorials online, but I had never tried one before. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this shea butter smells delicious and is very easy to use. When I was ready to make my first "recipe," a magnesium oil lotion, I simply dipped a big spoon into the jar and dug out the amount I needed. Since my kitchen is warm, especially during the summer months, the shea butter came right out. The magnesium lotion is a huge hit, and it is very effective, too. A win!
I can't believe how many products I've been able to make from this one jar of shea butter. In addition to the magnesium lotion, I made a soft body butter for my little children (newborn, 2, and 4), diaper cream, eczema salve, and an all-purpose healing salve (like an antibacterial ointment). These recipes often included ingredients such as beeswax, coconut oil, and herb-infused olive oil. The finished products smell nice, look pretty, and are effective.
It's an investment to purchase these ingredients for homemade products, but it's worth it. You won't regret this purchase.

Shea Butter - 16 oz. - Unrefined - I LOVE IT!!!

I am in love with this product & I can't get enough of it.
It is incredible what we can learn reading honest reviews.
So sorry that I missed the benefits of this natural product for so long.
I was afraid that it would be too much for me and go to waste, because I wouldn't be able to use the whole thing within a year, but, the way I am indulging, it won't last long.
It has a slight nutty smell, nothing aggressive, just nice, very natural. The color is like the picture, but you can see a very slight greenish touch that makes the product even fresher and more natural.
The consistency is of a dry paste, grainy, hard to pick, but once you get a small portion and melt it in the palm of your hand, you won't stop spreading it all over your skin. It has a high affinity, the skin absorbs it well, since I use a little bit at a time. Those micro grains disappear completely as soon as it melts. I use it on my face and all the areas of my body that need special care like feet, hands, elbows or everywhere.
Honestly, I have used all kinds of products, very expensive and also the common over the counter products, and none of them impressed me, making me believe that those expensive products are just for the name, nothing relevant about their action and the results.
I never used a product with these results, it leaves my skin almost translucent and sooo soft. It nourishes, deeply replenishes and moisturizes like nothing else.
The feeling is that the cells were thirsty for something that they found in the Shea butter, and they soak up.
It is really great for my face, the skin has a beautiful glow after shower, when I use it, but it does not get greasy. Eye lids and lips included. Such a natural product can only be good for a delicate skin.
Although, for a change, my hair has been nice and silky lately, I couldn't resist testing after washing it and towel drying. I believe that it would be very good for long hair that needs extra care for the tips or for the dry hair.
Also great for body butter mix, of course. It is really pure.
This Shea butter (the one I received) is exactly as advertised. Fast delivery & it arrived in perfect condition, like the picture, tightly sealed and smells delicious! I researched so much to make my choice and based on the reviews, I'm glad I chose this seller.
