You get a lot of olives.

This is a big container of olives. You get lots of them. the flavor is decent, but the olives are little. they are pitted, so they're not quite as good quality as if they were not pitted. Overall, I consider it an excellent value.
Delicious, but definitely very salty!

Kalamata's are my favorite type of olives. Up until now, I have been buying the Kalamata's from Costco. But when I realize I had run out, I just couldn't stomach the thought of going into Costco for just one item. So I looked on Amazon for one, and these caught my eye. I read through all of the reviews and thought, what the heck, let's give these a try!

Many reviewers commented that they were salty. I thought to myself, 'Have these people never had an olive before??!". Heh. But, they were right. Although the sodium label say they are nearly identical in sodium quantity to the olives I've been getting from Costco, the taste says otherwise. These are SO SALTY that instead of eating half a bowl of them, I can only eat a few before the salt just gets to me. The solution is simple. As other reviewers have mentioned, you can soak them in water and after a few days, they're fine.

Many reviewers say to watch out for pits! I must have been fortunate in my batch because there has not been a pit in sight!

Would I repurchase? No. They are smaller than the Kalamatas that I have been used to getting. The extra step of soaking in water is something I just don't want to do! I am lazy and want to eat my olives on a whim, without making sure they've had enough soaking time! Asthetically, it appears the pitting process does quite a bit of damage and the ends where the pit has been removed... the ends are kind of ragged and torn. Definitely not the sort of olives I might put out for guests to put on an appetizer plate! But they taste great and you certainly can't beat the price!
This makes these incredibly delicious olives affordable.

Flavorful, Good Value, but Too Salty for Some Uses

These olives are packed well, flavorful, and a great value for the quantity. Prepare to exert some patience when removing the plastic insert you'll find when you first remove the lid.
It's difficult to eat many of these olive slices on their own because as others have mentioned, they're far too salty. Some olive producers recommend rinsing their olives before use, but IMO rinsing less-than-whole olives is just gross, and good olive brine adds a lot of extra flavor. I use these almost exclusively as an ingredient in various recipes, so they do work for me; I simply reduce the added salt content of the dish to compensate accordingly.
Another reviewer wrote that the slices are "canoe shaped" - They're actually perpendicularly (to the stone) sliced rings. -I've attached a pic for size and shape reference.
Like many Roland products, this item came with no obvious production date, best-by date, or expiration date. There is an obscure, coded stick-on label on the side of the container which requires you to do some online sleuthing if you want to figure out what the codes mean. After a few minutes of searching online (the link offered in the product description doesn't work), I found no specific chart online for this exact product; I did find another Roland chart which seemed to properly decipher the production date (6-ish months before purchase) , but I gave up trying to decode two other sets of numbers on the tag. I find this practice by food suppliers annoying at best, shady at worst.
I removed one star for the excessive saltiness of the olives which limits their use, and for the iffy shelf-life info of the labeling.
