Before trying Lock Laces, I tried the X-Pand laces and the Hickies, so I can offer an opinion based on all of them. I returned the Hickies. I spent over an hour trying to come up with some combination of "lacing" that would fit the top of my foot. The HIckies were either too tight or too loose. Plus, the center two "holes" in my shoes are rings, and the HIckies just looked twisted on that part of the shoe and would not lie flat. For someone with a narrower foot, and with a normal hole pattern on their shoes, the Hickies might be perfect. But, unfortunately, they didn't work out for me. Before I tried the Hickies, I had ordered the X-Pand laces. I did not like those, either.. Those laces are basically flat elastic, quite stretchy, and because my sneakers have a combination of leather holes plus a few rings, the laces just would not lie flat. So on my third try, I ordered the Lock Laces. Lock Laces I like! The Lock Laces are round, and they fit the shoes well. Third try was a charm!

These might be the best thing ever invented! I will definitely be purchasing another package for my next pair of shoes. For install - you lace them up as you would any other shoe-lace, but they are elastic, so as you pull them, they stretch. There is a locking mechanism that is the circle looking part that you feed the ends of the laces through, trim off some excess, and use the end clip to make them look neat. Put them on, pull the laces to whatever tension you want, then slide the lock down. To take your shoes off - press the button on the lock, slide it off, then pull your foot out. Leave it a little loose if you just want to slip your shoes off and on as well.

Why haven't I bought these till now!?!?!?! They are easier than velcro, but give the same results as tying your shoes without the possibility of having your knot come untied and causing you to trip down a flight of stairs in front of that hot girl Julia you were trying to pick up in 11th grade, ruining your chances of taking Julia to prom. If I had these back in 1998 I might have gotten with Julia, but alas, I was forced to settle down with Jennifer, my silver trophy.

Lock Laces make my life as an amputee so much easir. It's a drag alone to have to constantly tie your shoes that are on your actual feet, but even more so tieing your shoes when it's on a prosthetic leg. Thanks to these laces I never have to tie my shoes again. I just follow the instructions on installing them to my shoes, and done, that easy. I am now free and don't need to worry about finding a place to sit down to tie my shoes. Lock laces have made my life as a new amputte a lot more comfortable. Not only do they have an outstanding quality product, but they actually care about their costumers. I had an error in my order, I sent them an email, and they shipped me out a new set, I even recaievd a little post card that apologized. Companys need to learn from these guys they are awsome!

I got them to make my sons pants tighter around the waist and it works just great. The pants had already loop wholes with draw strings but I wanted something elastic. These work perfect!

It seems like all the reviews on here are in exchange for free or discounted laces. I DID NOT RECEIVE THESE LACES AT A FREE OR DISCOUNTED PRICE (I would love to know how though!)

This is one of the best purchases I've made. They are extremely easy to install and stays tight all day. I can easily slip them on and off and don't have to worry about tying my laces anymore. It's definitely a hassle when they come untied in the store. I just purchased another pair last night for my pink shoes (in black).
