No Lowering Control
Vickie Kulp•August 13, 2017
I was hoping this would solve my problem of keeping a bird feeder up high so cats couldn't get to it. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I put the hook over a metal bar outside in my yard. I was able to take the feeder up but when I brought it down there wasn't any control in speed and it came down very quickly. I wanted something that I could let down slowly with control. I'm also disabled and have poor balance. I would have to use 2 hands to bring the feeder down slowly and in control. I'm not able to do that. I wanted something that I could use one hand to raise and one hand to lower. This isn't it unfortunately.
They will do.

I used it to hang some bird feeders. The issues I have:
1.) It's long. I've mounted my feeders at approx. 7'-0", this brings it down almost 6". It's a totally different beast at that height. Move the bracket up you say? I don't have the room. It looks better without the device, but then I'd need a ladder.
2.) The pull string lets the feeder down, I have no issue guiding it down. however you also have to guide it back up. it's not an automatic spring load that pulls itself back up.
Other than that, they do what they are supposed to.

Extremely dangerous and useless

If I could give this 0 stars I would. This product is useless as a pulley. You have no control and the plant falls down at full speed. As the manufacturer notes in instructions: Misuse can cause death. It sure can. I bought it to lower a plant that I can only reach on a step stool, still stretching to water. Using this would only give me a plant that falls full speed like a projectile. If I could reach and hold my plant as noted in the instructions, I wouldn't have bought a pulley, right?
Decent if you follow instructions.

It had been working well for two of my hanging pots until a friend pulled the string without holding the bottom of the pot. This made it come crashing down breaking the extendable string. Luckily noone was hurt. But that is not the product's fault as they didn't follow instructions. However, it does leave me a little concerned as to how stable these really are. Also, these rotate quite a bit in the wind and I know most people prefer a rotating basket to allow for sunlight but in my case it is turning out to be detrimental as one of the pot is hosting a finch's nest and I'm concerned for the babies! I'm having to leave them down until the wind dies down, Again, this is probably not be the product's fault. I should have gone for a more stable pulley. If not for my experiences I would give this a 4.
Great Deal that has saved me alot on the agony of Watering Plants!

This is a very nice pulley system and has worked for me. I am rather a short person and can't reach my plants to water them and this has been a very easy way to bring them down to eye level to water and use the pulley to put them back in their original position! You need to hold the bottom of the plant container as you ease the plant down and them support the bottom to return it back to he original position after watering. That is no problem after having to get a chair or ladder to help me get it done before. I notice after all summers use that one is not as going as far up as it used to but the other is still making it to the very top to put the plant back when I'm done! Another great thing about this set of 3 ..is exactly that...there are 3 that you get for one very good price! The green isn't unattractive to hang from your doorway entrance and connects easily to do your hanging. I had plants that were in an average size pot and when watered weighted maybe 10lbs. -12lbs. I would highly recommend these to anyone that wants a deal, is dependable, and makes the process of reaching something that is a chore to get down ...not such a dreaded job!
