It is a black plastic. It does fold but once it's down it's fine. We were going to use it with our mini fridge but the insides are not the same measurement as the measurements for the whole thing so it was too small. We stuck it under the litter box instead and it works for that.

Bought this to put as a drip pan under an undercounter refrig in my office. We had to put a couple boards inside to raise the refrig up so the door would open without hitting the edge, but now it works great and protects my hardwood floor.
It's okay. Buyer beware though, no drain hole in the pan.

No drain hole. I should have realized that when I ordered it. The pan is okay. It'll do the trick so long as I don't have a massive leak under the dishwasher. Otherwise the pan will overflow onto the wood floor. So I purchased a moisture sensor to run over the pan.
