Bias lighting is the bomb!

When I was growing up, my mother always told me to keep a light on while watching TV, turns out, she was right. There are plenty of articles written on the subject, but basically you don't want the harsh contrast of a bright TV and a dark room. I noticed an immediate improvement after installing the Antec light strip. The color temperature is the correct 6500K that is important for optimum results. It is designed to stick to the back of the TV as one strip, but since we have a 42" screen, I had to turn the ends down at a 90 degree angle. This was no problem and it actually looks a works better. The on/off switch is nice since you would not need the light during the day. The light strip also turns on and off with the TV. I wish I had this light years ago, sorry Mom, I should have listened.
I'm just a man...

After reading up about why I should consider bias lighting I figured it was worth trying considering the low price. When it comes to home theaters, I'm just a man, and not some kind of home theater god. I know enough to know where to put my speakers and how to calibrate them, what components I need to get the job done, and I know when something looks good vs when it looks stupid.

I mounted this on the back of a 65" TV that is supported by a TV stand in the corner of my room. Corner mounting a TV may not be the best option, but in my den it is the only option. This puts the back of the TV about four feet from the actual corner of the room. The lights are strong enough to light up that entire corner with a pleasing glow.

When it comes to eye fatigue, I can't say that I can tell a difference. I rarely stare at the TV for longer than two hours at a time, so I'm not sure that's long enough for my eyes to be fatigued. I can say this has eliminated the need to have another light on in the room when watching TV. The TV itself is very bright, and adding a big strip of LED lights to the back makes that corner of the room slightly less bright than the sun.

As with any adhesive, before you install these lights you should thoroughly clean the back of your TV. Since it's a TV, you should use common sense and not use something like a dripping wet sponge.
Small Cost, Huge Benefit

This is a pretty straightforward LED strip for the back of a TV. It is a subtle difference that you don't focus on, but your eyes are happy it is there.

The LED strip length is a good size, and can be cut to customize dependent on how much is needed. It was too long for my 50" TV, I needed to cut it, and there were dotted lines for this reason.

Setup: Make sure your TV has an open USB port, as this product gets it's power via USB, and if you plug it into an outlet/non-TV source, it will be active while it is plugged in. If it uses the TV as a power source, it will only be on while the TV is on.

Benefits to using back lighting: it makes it less strenuous on your eyes when you are watching in a dark room/at night. It also passively feels like the blacks/dark colors are darker, as the light is lighting the background so the contrast seems more prevalent. It makes your setup feel more professional.

TL;DR: Buy this little LED strip, stick it on the back of your TV, save your eyeballs and impress your friends.
Color balance WAY off...

Despite claims made on this product's packaging, this is not a 6500K backlight -- the light it outputs has a very strong bluish/purplish cast.

If you're after a solid, neutral bias light, I suggest you look elsewhere. My pick:Home Theater Accent Lighting | LED Backlight TV Normal Bright Cool White Large Kit: Recommended for Flat Screen TVs up to 85" Inspired LED

If there's anything good to say about this Antec Bias light: being able to plug it into a screen's USB ports for power is highly convenient. Beyond that, the light it casts would be more at home underneath one of the cars in 'The Fast and the Furious' than behind your television.
Major improvement over older backlighting methods

I'm a home theater nut and have been backlighting my panels for years. I would previously purchase a fluorescent bulb from Home Depot (6500 degrees Kelvin), use high heat velcro to mount it to the back of the panel, use electrical tape to mask out some of the light (to prevent it from being too bright), and then connecting an RF remote control unit to turn the light on and off. This product is far easier and just as effective. Simply plug the little light strip into a USB port on the back of the TV and you're done. I did end up using some clear packing tape on the two ends of the light strip to ensure a solid hold. One strip works well for my 48" Sony, but I'm using two for my 60" Samsung. Watching TV in the dark is far easier on the eyes and seems to enhance the picture quality given the perceived increased contrast. Highly recommended.
