Absolutely delighted with it. I need a very dim light in my bedroom nights, for when I have to get up and use the bathroom (when you get to my age YOU'll find out) - I prefer red, because I spent many years aboard Navy ships, and we were often in Darken Ship Condition, so it doesn't bother me a bit. Being able to bring it from Very Dim to Bright almost instantly is nice. I didn't expect the multi-colored stropbing to be so entertaining, but it is. I'm ordering more of these today - I want to use them all over the house.

This is the second one of these that I purchase. My 12 year old daughter loved the first one I bought for her. I had to buy a second for my 14 year old daughter. This bulb has various beautiful colors and effects it goes through. The remote works great they can turn on from their bed. I would not buy it to be a primary light as it is not bright enough, but for mood lighting it is perfect.

Bought two for my kids lamp. They work really well. When set to white each is as bright as a 40 or 50W bulb. When set to a color they are about half as bright. The color light is much softer than white light so they can be left on during the night and not disturb your sleep. They each come with a remote but either remote controls both lamps. Remotes appears to use infrared light.

Color and remote are a fun feature, but it isn't bright enough for a porch light and too bright to use as a night light in my sons bedroom lamp. fun novelty but not worth the $$ in function.
UPDATE: I am super impressed with the customer service I received in response to my earlier review. They gave me a full refund which to me would make it worth a try if you are interested in trying out these bulbs! They really are fun, just not for what I intended them for.

This item went into a colorful kids lamp. The result was stunning, each of the colors in the lamp structure are effected differently by the different colors produced by the bulb. Opposing colors turn dark, while similar colors become vivid. I use the flash mode for "party time" and the smooth mode for bedtime.
For an accent lamp, the brightness is fine. If you intend to light a room, perhaps the 10w bulb would perform better than this 5w option.
The brightness range is narrow, three up or three down. Not bad at all, just might not suit all scenarios. Also, if you are in a color changing feature mode, the brightness is on high and will not dim. The solid colors do dim.
The remote works well, though not from any distance or behind any obstruction.
