I've never had black walnuts before - but these didn't taste particularly distinct to me. They did taste slightly like blue cheese. So I did wonder if they were authentic or if they were still fresh. In any case, I have no basis for comparison....but the product was definitely underwhelming.
Pieces were tiny and the taste were subpar.

I have been a black walnut fan for years for its taste and nutrition but cracking the nuts myself was getting tiring. I tried these (bought of a few pouches) but the pieces were very tiny, even with the large label. The nuts also tasted slightly rancid. With all the difficulty of opening the nuts myself, I might still go back to the old method as these taste not that great.

I love black walnuts, and these taste great. I haven't found any shells yet, either (about half-way through the bag now). Makes great ice cream, good on waffles, and substitutes nicely for many recipes calling for walnuts or pecans.
