They are okay.

Used the first time in the camper. The liner bags (sold separately) so fit a 5-gallon bucket. The pads are the size of 1/2 a paper towel. They do absorb but I have my doubts about the amount of liquid the pad will absorb. They also do not control any urine odor very well. I had a fellow camper tell me they have used small amounts of kitty litter that seemed to help a lot.
Works as advertised

These work as described, I use one of these pads in my wife's bedside commode with a plastic liner and it absorbs the urine from the nights use. No fuss no muss
Good for portable toilets

I use these for camping in my portable loo. One in the bottom of the compostable bag and a sprinkle of cat litter with every use. They absorb all day for me as one person and I did not notice any odor even though it was a hot day. I will be getting more of these for camping next year and emergency use at home.
Works as described. This is an excellent product with reliable usage to it's stated capacity.

Works as described. This is an excellent product with reliable usage to it's stated capacity.
Bought these Gelmax pads to make my own portable urinals cheaper than the typical one's used for travel/emergency purposes.
These pads work exactly as described and of good quantity for cost.
I use the method of placing one or two pads into a quart size freezer bag for car or other travel.
At a person's discretion they can be used in sandwich sized baggies or regular (non-freezer) quart baggies depending on what capacity is desired or cost of bags. However, the gelmax pads are large. To fit them in a quart bag I had to fold them in half. I imagine if using sandwich size bags you might have to fold them in quarters or perhaps cut them in pieces to fit. I don't believe there would be a problem with that, but I didn't test with mine cut.
While I've use the other urinal style gel products and liked them, I always found them a little pricey and with time they could tend to get holes in them. Also the reclosable "portajohn" bags tend to be more expensive still. While the gel in those products works instantaneously and these Gelmax pads a little slower, they both achieve the same gel holding power after a few minutes.
The ready made (with more anatomic urinal openings) tend to cost between $2 - $3 per unit. If you're willing to give up the solid cup opening you can make your own with the gelmax for around $1.25 - $2.25 per unit (based on whether you use one or two pads per baggie).
I now prefer to do that for my emergency urinal needs because while the other products are very good, they can still remain bulky even after rolling up and again the bag part may degrade pretty quickly over time. When I make my own with the gelmax I can have a fresh bag each time and the gelmax itself stays good for a long time while the "package" remains flat either in a pocket or bag taking up less space for the same volume controlled.
As a test I sacrificed a few pads and tried one out in a quart size baggie with 16 oz of water like the directions indicate it can handle. I found that it absorbed that amount of liquid as stated within about 5 minutes to complete gel state where there was no "sloshing" of any liquid. This is slower than the premade products which are a lot faster. (Up to two to three minutes faster). But I've honestly never had an issue with the speed of gelling. It didn't make a difference to me in terms of spill risk or reuse, etc. Also I added a few more ounces to the bag later to test it's limits and found it would hold the extra liquid to a gel state after some more time, maybe up to ten minutes. So it does do well. However, it does need at least that 5 minutes to set up completely as I found under 5 minutes you could still squeeze the package and liquid will come back out of the pad like a squeezed sponge. Not much but enough to cause a mess if the bag leaked. But again after 5 minutes that didn't happen. Squeezing after 5 minutes or even after 10 minutes with the extra ounces produced no liquid out of gel state.
I don't intend to use these as spill control pads, so the amount of gel time may vary. But if used for spill control, given time, these will hold the spill to be able to pick up without remaining liquid behind. Have to give it time though,
What I decided is that on some occasions there may be more than 16 - 19 oz of liquid needed to be contained. So in some baggies I put in one pad and in others I put two as a precaution.
As it was I was going on a long road trip. While there were plenty of facilities on the way, I did get caught without a convenient facility at one point and used my homemade bag with 2 pads inside. It was easy to use. No accidents or issues. I did feel I needed the extra volume absorption of the 2 pad bag. I sealed the baggie with no spills or leaks. After about 5 minutes the pads were completely gelled and there was no sloshing liquid. If for some reason there was a puncture in the bag at that point or the seal were opened (to reuse), I feel confident that there would be no spills. As such I didn't feel the need to keep it to reuse and didn't test that. But it worked as expected and as intended with no trouble. I believe the pads aided not only in the absorption but also to avoid any splash back and of course accidental spills vs. just a baggie or a jar container of some kind. I suppose these could work in jars too if no spill risk was desired. I know it states that it can control odor. Again I didn't bother to check after use, but I don't feel that's probably going to control odor that much. However, the gelpads by themselves to have a slight "clean" pleasant odor.
I don't think I'll go back to premade disposable urinals unless I don't have a way to buy these or similar. Hope this helps anyone on the fence about if it's OK to use these for this purpose or not.
Seller delivered on time and as described in the package (box) as in the description picture. Genuine product.

Need all the time - update

Met my expectations. No complaints - especially as I need to purchase more.
So far, I have not experienced any difficulties with this product - only that I wish it was sold at my geographic location; right now, I have no choice but to buy it online from Amazon.com. It lives up to what it's supposed to do; that is to absorb fluids and keep the odour down ... that it does. Also I do wish that the box housed more pads ... at least 30 pads!
