Got this for our 7 month-old medium-largish puppy. Let's be real, I bought this because it's freaking adorable. SO many dog toys are just...ugly. Some are like scary, evil, neon, flattened, crinkly carney looking things and no...just no. I know, who cares? Not the dog, for sure. But I am definitely more likely to buy dog toys that are cute. Luckily, he loves it as much as I did when I saw it. He is definitely a chewer, and one of the chipmunk's heads is just now starting to become separated from the body (RIP chipmunk), but I'm actually surprised how well they have held up so far. He's not a small dog, but he's pretty careful carrying them around. He likes to try and carry all three at once, which again, is hysterical and worth at least 3 stars on its own. I read the reviews that said with "supervised" care it can last chewers a few months. I don't supervise him with this, even though he's been known to massacre a pet-store plush chew in less than one day, and he has managed to not totally annihilate the log despite constantly digging in it. No lie, I'm kind of just waiting for him to totally destroy this so I have an excuse to buy the super mega jumbo version and double both of our joy. Love that it is something for him to "do" while he's playing instead of just "chew, chew, drop on the floor." Great buy.

This is my puppy Gandalfs FAVORITE toy!!!! He loves to put his whole face into the log and sometimes he just sucks on the outside .. it's hilarious!! The little chipmunks are also a lot of fun to throw around. We will be getting more of these as his wears out for sure!! I wish they had a big dog version though, because once he's 100 pounds I might be afraid of him swallowing those little chipmunks.

Well considering the price it lasted more than long enough. About 1 week after giving to my pit she had ripped out all the stuffing and destroyed the squirrels. It has now been several months and although all that's left is a rag of brown tree trunk fabric she still continues to rip it, thread by thread and insisting that we play tug of war with it (it makes your hands smell great let me tell you). For smaller dogs or dogs that focus on actually trying to get the squirrels out instead of destroying the thing at all costs I can imagine it lasting much longer. I think the biggest problem is that the top and bottom of the trunk are not double stitched or reinforced in any way so if you dog grabs it from there and manages to pull hard enough it will just start to rip in no time. Also the "tubes" that make up the body of the trunk are not cross-stitched so as soon as the top or bottom comes off ALL the stuffing will come out with it. If there some a quilted pattern it would prevent a lot of the stuffing from coming out all at once. All that being said, for the money, can't complain.

I bought this for my tiny 2-year-old chihuahua, and so far she loves it! There are so many ways to play with it! I've never seen her get so excited as she does whenever she gets one of the hedgehogs out, and if I squeak two of these guys at once, she goes absolutely nuts and is more excited to play than I've ever seen with her other toys! I had been on the lookout for toys that can double as a brain challenge for dogs, and this is perfect for that. It's like a Kong but with little plushies instead of treats!

My shepherd mix rescue LOVES this toy. Taking the chipmunks out and, yes, even putting them back in by herself so she can take them out again has become one of her favorite pastimes when I'm occupied and can't pay attention to her at the moment.

She's pretty gentle in terms of her treatment of toys in general (blessedly) but has definitely done some gnawing on both the chipmunks and the log and they've held up great.

I absolutely recommend this toy. Now I just need to find an "advanced placement" version for doggies who are too smart for their own toys because Gracie can take all the chipmunks out, then put them all back in so she can take them out again in just a couple minutes!
