This is a Show Piece... unless you modify it to actually work as designed.

The 3 Ball Battle Mace I received broke after just three swings out of the box. The piece that holds the ball chains to the wooden handle is not welded closed, so this piece spreads apart when the mace is swung, causing the balls and chains to separate from the wooden handle. Luckily, no one was hurt when this happened.
The upside is that the item really is fairly heavy duty and could be a functional piece if the shortcoming are corrected.
But, out-of-the-box, as is, it's simply a show piece... to hang on one's wall... or belt... and admire.

Handle and chains are weak/light, but the metal mount and the balls are quite sturdy, pointy and heavy. Definitely don't want to get hit with this thing. Great display piece since you don't want to seriously swing it and hurt yourself or someone else when the chain breaks or the wood snaps. I suppose you could switch out the chains with something better, but if you can do that, you can probably make more battle-ready maces than a 25$ one from Amazon. Great display value either way.

This is really sturdy about 7/10 on its own, I've been using it and not one chain has broken or opened up enough so that a piece flings off. After a while of using it I got tired of waiting for the chain to open up enough to replace it so then it wouldn't be a hazard, so I replaced it anyway. Right now it is Three Ball Flail 2.0 A.K.A. Knightfall. I added about 5lbs on to it and the woods still holding strong.
Which after doing so fell off because the links are terribly made. I went outside and started playing with ...

I took it out of its box and put my arm into the wrist loop. Which after doing so fell off because the links are terribly made. I went outside and started playing with it and swinging it and the metal link holding the 3 balls and chains on broke and the balls went flying into the woods and I could only recover 2 out of the 3.
A nice medieval weapon to DISPLAY.

HEAVY DUTY. Proud to have as a part of my collection. Looks great in the man cave. This is not a lightweight piece, it feels great in the hand, and looks stunning on the wall, and yes, I definitely would not want to be hit with it. If you like medieval weaponry as I do give this a try.
