Heavier spring needed for steel frame bike
Jeff Stille✓ Verified Purchase•April 1, 2018
Fairly easy to install. Knew when I purchased this I would need to upgrade the spring. My local hardware store had the correct size & type for $1.80 so no big deal. My 1998 Dynacraft Magna Mtn Tamer 26" now has much easier and worry free parking. With the heavier spring the at rest position is still about 5 degrees off center but I can live with that.
Beware of plastic parts

It should work, at least for a while, the plastic parts make me a little nervous, it does work, to a point and with a front pannier it does just enough to be useful, and keep the steering from spinning all the way around, should help keep the wheel straight while riding and I won't have to fight the bike to keep it straight. The plastic parts need to be re-engineered.
Replacing the plastic clip with a hose clamp is a nice idea but so far has been unnecessary

I've got three of these dampers. No doubt they add stability. Replacing the plastic clip with a hose clamp is a nice idea but so far has been unnecessary.
The bikes are much more stable on their stands and it is a lot easier packing stuff into a front pannier.

Not as pictured. If you have a fork like the one shown in the photo the damper is missing a part which goes into steerer tube. It comes with a right angle bracket that would attached to road bike type forks, but there is no hardware for attaching it to suspension forks.
Works okay, fork crown bolt not included

It seems to work okay. Fitting the clamp on my bike's downtube was a little tough only because my frame doesn't use round tube cross-sections. They're more D-shaped. Also, it DOES NOT come with a bolt to go through the fork crown. This is the hole where a front fender would attach. If you have fenders on your bike then you most likely have a bolt there already. My bike currently does not have fenders or a bolt there, and the hole is not threaded. So I had to run by the hardware store to pick up a bolt long enough (M6x50 I believe is what I used), 2 washers, a lock washer, and a M6 hex nut. I managed to find flat black hardware which matches my flat black fork.
I haven't had a chance to actually take this bike out yet for a grocery trip or anything else, so I'll update if anything changes. I may end up replacing the plastic downtube clamp completely, as another reviewer did.
