We have a hooded vent for glass blowing, and we have to have a fan that will pull toxic fumes out of our work area quickly. Our old inline fan just wasn't cutting it anymore. This fan mounted easily to the wall, our existing 10" duct work hooked right up to it, and it moves a lot of air. It is loud, but we aren't using it in a living space and we don't care that it is loud in our glass studio. The noise is the only reason I'm giving this only four stars. But I think for quiet you may have to spend a lot more than we did for a fan that moves this much air.
