Anyone for an evening bug hunt?

We really had to work at getting this flashlight to light up the first time. I put in batteries but it wouldn't light up. My husband fiddled around with it and finally it worked. Now no problem. I used it this fall to go outside and look for insects in the dark. It was pretty fun. I had read that you can find caterpillars using black lights and sure enough. I found several. I did get it to look for spots of pee where my dogs had had an accident. It did not work for that.

The light works very well in a very dark setting, not very useful if there is much light.
*** Be warned, you are very likely to see a lot more then you expect. We found out that even after shampooing our carpet (Bissell home machine) the spots are still there... new spots are still bright as can be. I'm pretty sure we were seeing spots from the previous owner (5+ years ago).

This thing is so good. It shows every single stain over the years where our dog peed when he was a puppy and still having accidents on the carpet. We thought we cleaned but you can clearly see all the spots. It also shows where dust is hiding that you don't even see when the lights are on. So in conclusion, this UV light is almost too good. It shines brightly over a large area at least 6 feet away. Now I can never lie on the carpet again cause i know where all the invisible stains are. They should sell this as a bundle with a carpet steam cleaner. Ordering two more as gifts. Haha!

This is a very bright UV flash light. It is interesting to see things in UV. It becomes obvious why bees are attracted to certain flowers because with the flashlight we can see the colors they see. Cats don't care for UV light and react oddly to it. It is a novelty item generally.

Don't shine it directly in someone's eyes! It offers good ultraviolet illumination. We used ours at Grand Canyon's Phantom Ranch & Bright Angel campground. We didn't find any scorpions, but it will light up bugs so that they glow in the dark and might be fun for a Halloween scavenger hunt. It's difficult to discern filth from cleaner residue in a motel room when you use it. So just take some sanitizing wipes and just wipe ALL areas where you suspect contamination. I haven't tried it with Bondo adhesive yet.
