If you know how to adjust wheel bearings and the headset, go for it. Otherwise, you may want to stick with a local shop. I was pretty surprised how tight all the bearings were upon arrival. If not adjusted, the increase pressure would prematurely wear bearings and races. And for a little person learning to ride, all that resistance adds up to increased effort. Disclaimer: I worked in a bike shop and can feel this stuff immediately, so I did the adjustments and it's pretty smooth sailing now. I just think they could do a better job setting up the bike for those less inclined to work on bikes. Pretty good value for the dollar, in any case. We bought this for my daughter, so we peeled off the "major damage" stickers and turned it into her little bumble bee, complete with stickers purchased from another supplier on amazon. She loves the bike and she loves making it special with decals of flowers and bumble bees. p.s why do girls bikes have to be shaped differently... why are they so dang heavy... doesn't have to be that way any more. Oh, and don't get me started with all the pink princess garbage... I can't afford the cost of all that therapy when she grows older.

Rear tire will not hold air. We purchased this for our grandson for his birthday and he has not been able to ride the bike. Major disappointment.
