Unique light display for the holidays

The media could not be loaded. I carefully read reviews and product description before ordering and I am not disappointed. I filled our yard with three sets of the 36-08, Sparkling Cool White. Choosing the right layout was a bit tricky at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. The lights randomly blink on and off so the pattern may not have been as critical as it probably is for the solid strands which do not "sparkle".

I live in northern Minnesota and the ground was already frozen by the time I installed the lights. However, I was still able to push the stakes into our lawn by hand. The light bulbs attach easily to the stakes but they do not actually clip into place, so do not expect any sort of snapping action. I'm very happy with the result and I'm looking forward to get some snow tomorrow as I think it will create a better effect.
Experience with 2 different sets of lawn lights

I'm pretty fond of these lights. I previously owned the white "tinkling" version of lawn lights and really loved them. The alternating on/off effect scattered throughout the yard was very striking. However, they died after 2 seasons of use. This year, since all of the other outdoor Christmas lights I have are multi-colored, I decided to get the color-changing multi-colored lawn lights as a replacement. I like them just fine, but I do find that the color transition is so slow and smooth that unless you sit there and look for it, you probably won't notice the lights changing color. Certainly no one driving by will ever notice it. To a passer-by, the lights just look like static colored lights. As such, I would recommend the white blinking variety over the multi-colored or any of the static varieties. Still, lawn light provide a lot of Christmas light bang for a relatively small amount of money and a very small amount of work.

I would love nothing more than for them to produce a multicolored string that blinks on an off. I would buy that in a heartbeat. Ok, I'd probably think about it some, but I think I'd buckle and buy it.
Not as many lights as expected but works

I thought there would be more lights on the strand or should I say closer together. I put them in my lawn about 2 weeks ago and the stands are holding up so far I like the multicolored lights on the lawn. I'm really hoping once we get some snow that it'll look even better with the halo of light. They've made it through some decent rain so far so it seems to be made well.
AWESOME New Lights!!!

These lights are literally the "talk of the town." I live on a street where people decorate outside - TONS of decorations. In fact, there is a HUGE lighted sign at the north end of our street that says "This way to Clark Griswold's House." His decorations are fabulous (he decorates front and back yard, house, and about 25 trees that are at least 35-40 ft. tall), and his lights draw hundreds and hundreds of people every year (and his house is 2 houses away from mine, across the street). Sometimes, it takes me 10-15 minutes to get into my driveway when I get home from work. (I'm not complaining - I'm glad people enjoy it!!)

So, this is my 2nd Christmas in the neighborhood, and I wanted to do something different. I saw these lights and HAD to try them, because I had never seen anything like them, ANYWHERE, before. I wanted the multi-colored strand, but they were sold out, so I bought a strand of each color and a white strand. They look unbelieveable: REALLY!!! I don't have a ton of lights at my house, so that makes the lawn lights look even more dramatic. I've had dozens of people ask me about them...and even "Clark Griswold" - my neighbor, had to come over and ask me about them: I was SO PROUD!!! They really are amazingly fantastic!
So if you're looking for something different, try these out: you won't be sorry. One thing, though, it took me much longer than 15-30 minutes per strand to put out (it took me about and hour - but it was absolutely worth it). I'm not complaining, at all, but just thought it was fair to let the future buyers know that if they are looking for something super-duper quick, maybe these aren't for you.

One more thing, I was worried about what they would look like during the day, but you REALLY can't see them unless you are right at the edge of the yard: they blend in extremely well with the grass (I live in IL, and we haven't had snow this year...yet). I can't wait to see what they look like when we get a little snow!

Synopsis: Easy, yes; quick, not really; gorgeous and unique, absolutely! And it beats having to get up on the ladder and crawl around on the roof!! A definite MUST HAVE!! If I had more yard, I would get more...hmmm...maybe I will decorate the side yard next year.... :-) Happy Holidays!

P.S. To the folks who make these lights: I would buy them in more colors if available like purple, yellow, pink, etc. GREAT PRODUCT!! Thanks!
Best house in the area!!!!

Oh my gosh, I can't even describe how excited I am about this product. I've owned my house for 3 years now...never having owned something that I could decorate properly before buying, I just used what I had on hand (or stole from my parents) and threw it out there as best I could with minimal effort- then would drive through the neighborhood and get jealous by my neighbors properly decorated houses. After a couple cocktails one evening, I decided this year was my year and got to work. I stumbled on this and normally would have passed over it since it costs more than I would ever spend on lights, but fortunately I had a gift card and said screw it. Thanks to this, my house is easily the best & coolest in my very vast, sprawling neighborhood. Seriously, everyone else looks like a joke compared to us! The only choice they had left available color wise were the multi-colored morphing ones. I wanted the bright white ones, but I have a very thick string of LED rainbow lights that have 16 different functions and they totally matched color-wise! When the sun finally went down, I was absolutely blown away by how amazing it looked, especially combined with the other rainbow lights I had. I legit stood at my door staring at my lawn all night. I love seeing the cars slow down/stop to gawk and we get at least 3 compliments every day from passersby or delivery people. One delivery guy said he's seen some amazing displays in his time, but ours was easily the best and most well done. I WIN!!!!

About the product: The plug-in chord is VERY long before you get to the first light, which is great for configuring the plugs. There is a copious amount of space between each light. The cord is grass green and totally camouflages with the grass, I mean completely invisible...I highly advise marking the corners of the lawn somehow if you get people that tend to walk through it. The multi-color morphing ones are very slow color changing, almost unnoticeably so, but the subtlety is what makes it elegant! (this is coming from someone who loves all the flashy lights).

The set up: I wasn't entirely sure what 1600 square feet would look like, and it is definitely a lot. These lights are on a single continuous string, and as they said in the description, are not connectable end to end. The lights themselves are standard tiny LED bulbs, which I thought would be a problem cuz in the daylight they looked like they wouldn't put out much light. My friend and I spent about 7 hours on this, but that was because I didn't read the box or instructions out of excitement and had no idea how to lay them out...plus I was making my life much more complicated by trying to keep the lights on the spool as I rolled them out.The best way to go about setting them up is to unroll them completely and lay out how you want it to go. I HIGHLY recommend reading the instructions, they have a picture of the best method so that the lights don't line up together, you want them to curve and be able to place the lights between each other for the best visual effect. At first we didn't read anything and I swore up and down that they didn't give you enough stakes to be able to place them on each light, but it turns out that's exactly what you're supposed to do (and yes there were enough for each light). Honestly, the stakes are not really meant for the lights (although they are great quality in terms of sturdiness) and the method they describe for attaching the lights is complicated and did not work well for us, we kept having to go back to lights and put them back onto the stakes. After a long time of fussing with this, I grabbed a bunch of small zip ties we had lying around and attached each light to the stake permanently, which turned out to be one of my best ideas because now we can't lose the stakes next year and we have less steps to follow.

My tips:
1) Unroll them completely and lay them out before doing anything else
2) The stakes should NOT be pushed as far into the ground as they can go, you want them to stick up at least halfway out, with the lights situated on top
3) Buy yourself some small zip ties and secure the lights to the stakes! This fixes any slipping if there is tugging and no need to readjust, plus it makes it harder to lose the stakes when taking it down
4) Follow the instructions for layout tips!! Do not lay them in straight lines or square patterns, you want the lights to space between themselves in every row

My picture isn't great quality and it was hard to get the true effect of the lawn, it doesn't do it justice by even half. If I can somehow get a better quality picture I'll come back and update!
