Good concept with cheap construction

The set up for the Litter Genie is much better than just a trash can. Odors are completely trapped inside and initially, cleaning out the box was really quick and easy. The hinges on the lid are very weak. I've only used this enough to fill one bag but already, the hinges have loosed up so much the lid will no longer stay up on its own. You don't really realize how useful a hands-free lid is until you lose it. Having to stop and open the lid after every scoop gets annoying pretty quickly. Cheap hinges but the rest of the product seems to work well

I wish that the little pocket for the scoop snapped on more securely.
I wish the slots on the scoop were narrower. Not a big deal. I can buy another scoop.
I feel like I'm wasting a lot of the refill material when i tie off a section. So I'm working out how best to tie it off with hog rings, like a sausage casing. A casing for a sausage made of cat waste and litter.
But it does appear to be a very effective stink sequestration system, and has improved my quality of life with regard to cleaning a litter box used by two growing toms who eat like it's an emergency.

Marvelous!

I absolutely love this product!!! Previously, I had a litter robot, which was fine, but a little difficult to keep clean inside and it eventually stopped working after a few years. I decided to go back to a more standard litter pan, but bought the litter genie so I wouldn't have to throw smelly cat litter clumps in my regular trash can. The litter genie stands right beside the litter pan and there is no odor coming from it. I even asked my sister, who doesn't have cats, to go into the room where it sits and do a sniff test. She confirmed that she couldn't smell anything unpleasant. When trash day comes, I just tie off the bag and start a new bag. I have one cat and each bag lasts an entire week for me.
Not as good as the 1st Generation litter genie

I already owned a litter Genie and it was great, well we got a couple more cats so I decided to buy a couple more litter genies. BOY, talk about quality going down hill in a few years time. My first one was a tank, solid thick plastic, you could probably stand on it. These last two I got was real flimsy and the latch was molded in a bent position and wouldn't latch. Well if I had time to send them back I would have but I had to have them so I took a heat gun and rebent the latch so it would stay closed but it is still a very poor copy of my first one. Why do people have to always cut corners and try to make more money by making their products into junk. I'll never understand it.
I dreamed of Genie..

This product has been a blessing in our house and has granted all of my wishes when it comes to our new kitty! I have allergies and my son has a really sensitive sense of smell; put those together and the litter box smell was a huge problem in our house. Since we've gotten the Litter Genie our problems are minimized and actually pretty unnoticed. It was easy to set up, took around 2.5 minutes. It's relatively easy to use, scoop the poop, dump it in the top, close the top, and let the hatch to the bottom of the bag...the litter just falls down to the bottom, though sometimes you have to shake it back and forth to get it to fall down if there isn't a heavy load. I definitely recommend this for use with Swheat scoop litter for a less smelly house and a happy kitty too.
