Recently started making homemade bath bombs but had such a hard time with the metal and plastic molds so I decided to give these a try. My bath bombs came out of the molds so easy w/o any crumbling or cracking.

I love silicone anything; I have Silipat baking mats, cup cake liners, loaf pans, oval shapes that I use for freezing my both broth. When I came across a recipe for marzipan, one of my favorite sweets, I bought this heart-shaped silicone mold for Valentine's Day marzipan treats. It worked extremely well; the candies popped right out. Silicone is floppy, and as such needs to be reinforced with a baking pan or other flat object under it. I put all the silicone items on a cookie sheet, whether I put the mold in the oven, freezer, or refrigerator. I don't believe there is any silicone baking product that can stand alone. Once you get used to baking in silicone, you can never go back!

I bought this to make melted chocolate Valentine's with my daughter. It turned out being an easy, fun project for us! This is just like any other silicone mold I've used. I'll briefly describe what we did in case you're curious.

1. Filled the hearts with a small layer of sprinkles, M & M's and other candies.
2. Melt chocolate in microwave (I found small melts at WinCo for a very good price). I put the chocolate in a Pyrex glass measuring cup.
3. Pour the melted chocolate over the candies in the molds.
4. Put in fridge until hard.

If someone wanted to get creative you could get white chocolate and color it with food coloring. I did a mix of milk and white chocolate. I had a few mom's remark "You actually made those? Cool! How did you do it?" This was a great project that was easy, fairly inexpensive and fun.

These are great for crafts. I would NOT use them for food. Using the twist-test, it turns white-ish...telling me it's not pure silicone. Twisting a bit of the silicone, if it turns white-ish, it's got plastic fillers.
Pure silicone will retain its color.

So for crafts...these are great. But you're limiting.

People have been asking how big these are-- so I'm attaching some photos w/ common household items to give an indication of size. My ruler doesn't work well in a photo so this s/b a pretty good indication. Eash mold is about 1/2 to 3/4" deep. love these silicone molds! I use them to make dog treats, and love that they are easy to fill and easy to empty! I am already seeing some good use to surprise my sweetie this valentines day!
