I like it more than the carabiner models

I like it more than the carabiner models, those had a cheap carabiner with a bent wire. This also raises the mounting point for less sway compared to a carabiner hooked onto a belt loop.

I have a monocular I take hunting and this worked well for holding it on the strap of my backpack. It would not retract the 10oz monocular but when I retracted the cable it stays in place. I did have to user a different connection because the cable it comes with was cutting into the softer coating on my monocular. I used a length of 550 cord and that worked fine. It can be a little noisy if you run it in and out quickly which may be a problem hunting. All in all I like it and I plan on taking it hiking as well.
Awesome Product but ...... !!

I used the the clip to attach it to my belt but with use it fell off the next day . So I improvised with the tether in the first picture.
The steel cable on the clip at the end of the Kevlar cord that can be unclipped started to fray and unravel after 8 months of daily abuse by myself. I felt this would have been able to tolerate that level of abuse but I guess the shoelaces and lanyard pieces that I've been using can tolerate more ! Second picture, third is the frayed cable after 9 to eight months of daily use. Fourth is the Keyring I had the keys on . I will NEVER return to using Keyrings like that again.
I improvised and used a flat cord rather than the steel cable that frayed. Fifth picture the flat cord can lock my ID in the card holder and through my improvisation attaches to the detachable clip securely . It's a bit of work but I won't be losing things anymore!!
On the whole this is an AWESOME product that I would hesitate to purchase again !!

1st Rate Gear Tether

This is a nice retractable gear tether. Just be aware that the cable end has a head on the end of it that will not pass through small holes. You will have to and some type of ring to the end of it to do that.
QUIET!!!

This tether is much quieter than others out there. I use it to attach various equipment to my jacket while hunting (i.e. rangefinder). Plus, it is non-reflective and drab (a good thing).
