... with all that stuff on it are a huge waste of money
Mike✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 15, 2023
Raised two children with very similar one without all the bells and whistles attached to it and was a live in Nanny for a few years after mine were grown and I can tell you that the fancy bells and whistle ones with all that stuff on it are a huge waste of money. A child will quickly tire of the same old stuff resting in front of them and want something new to handle or look at. This product allows you to place an object in front of them one at a time like a plastic cup, some rattling measuring spoons, several cheerios etc while they are safely sitting up and touching the floor while you cook, do the dishes, vacuum in the same room etc. That is the only critical times when I used it and just kept it in the kitchen. It was wonderful. It can travel with you and you can feed them in it with easy clean up too. Children typically will learn to push around with one foot on a "hard floor" but not really walk in it, even though they are called walkers. But they are thrilled at sitting upright and learning that they have a tad of control over something while being in the same room with you while you are busy with something else, as long as you place interesting an safe objects in front of them that they can explore. This model I gave to my daughter for her first baby and she also received one with all the bells and whistles that she kept too for another room. She ended up liking this one far better and kept it in the kitchen. It is easy to clean and far more stream line to blend into the décor. The trick is to only use them during those must do chore times or while you are actually eating and not to abuse just placing your child in it all the time. Out of using with 4 children, none actually walked in it but slightly pushed around with one foot and this gets them up off the floor in a different perspective before they can walk and puts them in an upright position for looking around and exploring safe objects you put in front of them or zooming them through the hall like a carnival ride with you pushing them on occasion. They quickly learned that the high chair was for eating and this was for exploring new items placed in front of them or some occasional cheerios. It will not roll well on carpet but only hard floors and I found it wonderful to have in the kitchen. You may need to put a towel in front of their tummy to help prop them up if they are leaning forward before they are able to touch the ground with their feet if they have short legs. I highly recommend this.
Good walked

This Walker is perfect for minimalist parents. I wanted a Walker that was very basic and not have all those toys included because personally I am not a fan. I did add some toys of our own that I knew my baby would like. Such as some fidget spinners, this way they are easy to remove and easy to put on. She is able to both snack and play in the walker easily.
Great Walker, but needs more quality control

After reading the positive reviews and getting feedback answers to my questions from reviewers, I decided to order the Joovy Spoon Walker. Even though the reviews stated it was a large walker, when I received it I was still surprised at how large it really was which wasn't a problem because I do have the space for it. I ordered it in purple which is a deep, rich purple that could be used for a boy or a girl. The large tray is ideal for holding different toys each day. I love the removable plastic tray which is easy to clean, but more importantly suction toys adhere to it and don't come off easily even with a teething baby pulling on the toys. The seat is very padded and comfortable supporting the baby. The front part of the seat was very easy to install, but the back is another story. There are five plastic straps with clips on them. Getting the strap through the slot is not too difficult, but inserting the strap and the clip at the same time is a little more difficult and once you get both through the slot you have to twist the clip so it lies flat which secures the seat to the walker. This walker has three positions, but it is a guessing game trying to find the three positions because I never could find any mark showing the positions. The front wheels are very easy to pop into place. It is the back wheels that I have a problem with. These wheels are riveted on. One of my wheels spun easily like it should, but the other wheel wouldn't turn. Called Joovy Customer Service and I must say all the representatives are wonderful. I spoke with four of them over the course of several days. I told the first woman I talked to about my wheel problem and she gave my husband the OK to spray the wheel with silicone. It helped loosen the wheel some, but the walker had a tendency to want to go in a circle. Later I talked to a man and told him about the wheel still giving me trouble and that my husband said the wheel was riveted on too tight. My walker was also not level. One side was 1/4" lower than the other side. It was very noticeable when folded flat. He said he would send me out another walker. I requested that the walker be inspected first to be sure the wheels spun correctly and it was level. He said he woud make a notation about it. The new walker that came in was level, but the walker was not inspected as requested because this time both wheels wouldn't spin easily. My husband again sprayed with silicone. The wheels do not move as easily as they should, but this walker was better than the first walker I received. This would be a great walker if all wheels snapped on. If there is a problem with a snap on wheel it could easily be replaced. If something goes wrong with a permanently attached riveted wheel you might have a walker that is no longer useable. Evidently, the riveted wheels are not inspected closely enough which is really a shame. If you are lucky enough to get a walker with the back wheels spinning correctly you will be very satisfied with this walker. If you get a walker like the two that I received with wheels that have trouble turning, you and your baby will be a little disappointed and frustrated with your walker.
Worth every penny.

I cringed at the price of this walker. I did my "research" (read online reviews, watched videos- you name it) and concluded, this would be the perfect walker for our 8 month old. It was super easy to assemble, it's easy to clean, and the tray is huge! We were concerned our daughter wouldn't like it because there's nothing on it; however, her jumper has all kinds of "stuff" and she has never cared about it. With the large tray, we can give her all of her favorite toys and things to play with. The tray is also great for suction cup toys!

We have hardwoods throughout and the wheels grip like a champ! It turns perfectly as well. It doesn't move at all on our carpet (which is only in the bedrooms, so it didn't matter. We have medium-high pile).

My baby has very chubby legs, so that was another reason we purchased this walker. I read so many reviews about other brands of baby walkers; those reviews stated the leg holes were too small and left red marks. The Joovy Spoon doesn't do that! I really like the [Joovy] seat material; it's durable and seems comfortable to our baby. Very easy to wash- just toss it in the washer (after first removing the cushion and plastic piece from the inside of the seat).

We recently went out of town and my mother-in-law purchased our baby a Safety 1st walker. It took me forever to put the dang thing together. It was very narrow and small. I put my baby's chunky thighs in it and they were squeezed. It was so cheap feeling, I thought she was gonna tip over. (She didn't, but I was stressing). That walker made me appreciate and feel much better about purchasing the Joovy Spoon.

We've had this walker for month now (delivered and started using it on May 20, 2019. Today's date is June 22, 2019). It has been the best money spent!

**Finding the correct "level" (height) was the only thing we had to figure out. Every baby is different, so it took some time. She started out on the middle setting (she's 27 inches long). She's now on the tallest setting because we're wanting her to "walk" more, rather than use her feet to roll/slide around 😆. She's comfortable and loves it.**
It works as it should

It's a good walker and it's very sturdy. I feel like it's hard to maneuver for a baby though, and I also feel like the harness he sits in keeps him tilted forward in an unnatural way. However, this is still a go to walker for us because of its sturdiness and safety.
