Just too good to believe

Most reviews I read prior to purchase were very positive. However none came even close to my satisfaction. The cut is perfect. Snipe does occur on first passes but as soon as board is turned over first time it no longer occurs. Honest it is no louder than my dust collection fan when cutting wood. I have a jointer from jet that was purchased new with this cutter. I wood have given this more than five stars if I could have. Dewalt take a clue on this and offer this as an option like the jointer manufactures do, it would save some money if we did not have to scrap cutter knives and drum.
What an awesome addition to the DW735

Wow! What an awesome addition to the DW735! Installation was a piece of cake and there are a few good videos on YouTube to show you how. Remember to wrap the cutterhead in the plastic sleeve Byrd provides while inserting it into the planer. I now don't even have to use hearing protection with this cutterhead. It doesn't even sound like it's cutting when I run a 10"wide red oak board through it. Amazing!
I love this Shelix Cutter.

I don't have a lot of experience with the new Shelix cutterhead yet, but so far it is preforming very well. I installed it into a DeWalt DW735 planer. The installation went very well and I have been planing African Mahogany that I am using to make a table. The noise reduction when planing is a welcome sound, and knowing that the cutter will last much longer than the steel knives that originally came with the planer. YouTube has several videos that show how to install the cutter. The installation instructions that come with the cutter are also excellent.

This isn't related to the cutter, but I ruined the drive V-belt in the planer and had to replace it with a new one. I case someone else has the same problem, it is going to require two people to install a new V-belt on the DW-735 and it isn't easy. One person to force the V-belt on to the pulley while the other, using a 24mm socket turning the pulley. My wife didn't have the strength to help me, I asked the guy next door and we got it installed.
Haven't had a chance to use it much...

First test runs on a "tubafor" went well, so I have great expectations. Installation was easy. Recommend using a brass drift instead of hardwood to drive the original cutter head out, if you have one. Much easier to use. A few taps and you're done. Also the 24 mm nut came off easily with a 15/16 socket with no damage to the nut. Others have also reported the nut comes off easily. Use whichever socket you have and spare the expense of buying a single.
i would buy it again

It is a little smaller in diameter then the oem knives. This leads to the roller pressure being greater. I notice it when I feed it in and even more when it's coming out. It snipes the end just a bit bc the pressure from the front roller Isn't there at the end. I lift up on the end of the board to counteract this as I did with the other cutting head. You can feel it more with the shelix in the board. I really like this upgrade though. All of the inserts are holding up incredibly. I had no trouble changing out the old head either. Get snap right plires, they are cheap $6 and it will save u all kinds of trouble. I do notice more of a load on the motor and I cannot get a board to feed in with 1.5 turns. I use a half and I am almost always plaining 11 1/4 stock. I have to stop and give the motor a rest after about 45 minutes bc it starts to trip its onboard circute breaker. No big deal after 10 min I'm back at it. If I don't stop it will do it about every other 7 ft boaboard even at the slower feed. I use only the slower feed when it starts cutting the whole width of the board. Since I have changed it out I have noticed some of the knot material will make its way to the exhaust fan and make a bunch of noise. I had to take the top off one time to clean it out. It didn't appear to damage the fins on the fan. The depth gage is useless now so I'm thinking on the wifey digital readout for it. I would Deffinatly buy this again bc after everything I haven't had to rotate any inserts and I'm sure I woulofd be on a second set of blades by now with the old head.

I would like to add smaller widths of wood have no snipe
