Key features

  • Big, bulky, colorful, with a functional steering wheel, the isotta discovery car is an amazingly simple and fun way to introduce children aged 3 and up to the wonders of mechanical engineering
  • Includes: 4 wheels (2 steering), chassis, 3-piston engine unit, gear box with 2 gears and neutral setting, differential unit and steering wheel. Made in Italy from shatterproof, non-toxic materials
  • Three large transparent pieces fit together with the wheels and the chassis to create a vehicle for viewing all the major mechanical movements that make a car run
  • See the front fan twirl with the crank shaft causing the pistons to move up and down in succession. Finally, kids get to see for themselves exactly how a differential gear system works
  • Observe how middle gears transfer power from the engine to the back wheels. Twist the switch and kids will quickly understand how different gears can alter how much power is transferred

Recieved in Terrible decision

I had to give a star, but right now it gets no stars!!! I cannot even give this toy to my nephew, because the box is completely mangled, and everything in it sounds like broken pieces.

My nephew loved this car!
Overpriced - ZERO Customer Service from Quercetti
Amazon CustomerJanuary 27, 2016
I am very torn on this rating. I like the car, but it is very overpriced, it came with a broken fan blade, and the company will not return my emails about the broken blade. It is a large car, which allows you to really see the gears and how they act. It seems sturdy enough to hold up over time with two exceptions: obviously the fan is easily breakable since it came broken and the steering wheel continually comes off, making it a piece that will be easily lost. I had my older, homeschooled children "build" the car (took two minutes) and discuss the workings along with the book, "Cars and How They Go" by Joanna Cole (EXCELLENT book). Then it became my toddlers toy to play with. It would be nice if they included a simple sheet with a description of the inner workings of the automobiles and a drawing that labeled the parts shown on the toy car. For 50$ they could have done better with a few simple things and customer service (any response would have been nice), but it served the purpose I was looking for - in a very overpriced manner.

UPDATE: A few months later I did receive a fan from Quercetti - they never responded to me to let me know - they just mailed it out and I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived ;)
This is a nice toy, should be priced in the 25$ range ...

This is a nice toy, should be priced in the 25$ range though. you assemble it and then that's it. Its fun to look at all the parts working together but for the price I expected more. I was in the least hoping for somekind of booklet in the box. It would have engaged children in an additional learning opportunity of there was a book for them to follow assembly directions with details about what each parts is and what it does. Opeing a 50$ box with just a few plastic car parts in the box was disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the concept is neat, by kids enjoyed it, but not for very long. Not much more than most cars in their toy box either"¦
Also, the steering wheel keeps falling off.
