It's a pretty little glass bell that sounds like you're going to give a toast when you ring it. I think that's what it's actually made for. My wife asked for a bell as a gift because she wanted something to summons us to dinner and other house-hold happenings. I think she's satisfied for the most part. She can't ring it like the town crier and I think that took some wind out of her sails. What's bad for her turned out to be good for the rest of us.

I bought this bell as a wedding gift. It comes in a nice box like most department store products. However, when you pull the bell out it looks like it should be should in a crystal shop! So beautiful. The glass is bright and the details are smooth in the cut design. My friends were so please that I gave them such an expensive gift! shhhh! Lets keep this our secret!

When I received this, I thought it was broken because I heard rattling inside the box. However, it was only the inside of the bell that was moving around. The bell arrived in good condition. It is not as delicate or pretty as my other crystal bells but for the amount of moving I do, this will work as a sturdy edition to my dining room decor.
