Sturdy and functional

I used to have a tea infuser that opened like a clam shell held shut with a spring-loaded handle. It broke recently where the handle was spot-welded onto the hemispherical scoop. That was definitely a design flaw. The OXO infuser eliminates the weak connection by holding the two scoops together with rivets - a more durable design. When the scoops are closed and steeping, the tea leaves stay inside reasonably well. I'm not sure why other review\ers have complained about leaves getting out. The OXO works almost as well as my French press in keeping tea leaves inside the ball. Yes, a few fragments might get out when using fine leaves like rooibos, but it's definitely better than some other systems I've tried.
The tea leaves come out during brewing (but only for small tea leaves)

I'm disappointed in this item. I have made tea several times and I can't seem to make it without many of the tea leaves coming out into the cup of water. I bought two, one for work and one for home, so I will force myself to use them and figure out what I'm doing wrong. Update: I always dislike it when a buyer writes a review without considering instructions. I did just that with my earlier review. I did not realize that this product is meant for larger tea leaves. I was using it for herbal tea and it didn't work at all. Most of the tea leaves ended up falling out. I used it this morning for English breakfast tea and it worked well. My only compliant is that it's difficult to get all the tea leaves out to clean it (why it's not 5 stars) but frankly, that's just what you get with a design that isn't like a clam shell.
Classic Design

I picked up my first OXO tea ball infuser about 10 years ago, intrigued by the design, which didn't require using a separate spoon to fill. After a decade of daily use, it started to give up the ghost; the plastic handles had started turning gray, and had developed cracks. My only problem was finding a replacement, as none of the stores I looked in carried them. Amazon to the rescue. I'm looking forward to another decade of service from my new one.
A good purchase for the habitual tea drinker.

Tldr: Easy to use and has a good build quality. No stray leaves.
I recently switched to loose leaf herbal tea from tea bags. I did not like the amount of unnecessary packaging that came with tea bags - aluminum foil covers and such. Also bulk loose leaf tea is soooo much cheaper when you actually begin to count the dollars. Also it is more flavorful. However loose leaf tea does not have the convenience of tea bags. You need four utensils - a spoon for the tea container, a mug to steep the tea in, a strainer to strain the tea and a cup to pour and drink from. This is a bit much for an office kitchen.
But this twisting tea strainer helps reduce that workflow. You can totally bring this to work and be the envy of the coffee drinkers.
This works well and has a premium feel to it. There is also a satisfying click sound while twisting the strainer.
Tea infuser perfection

It is the ideal tea infuser. It's easy to fill, easy to empty. The long handle lets you use it in a tall cup. The holes are fine enough that no tea leaves escape. The plastic end ensures that you can remove it after steeping without burning yourself. I have several other types of tea infusers, and this one is my favorite. It has no design shortcomings. If I need tea for a whole pot, I would use the Scheff kind, but for a single cup of tea, this infuser is perfect.
